You'll have to show me the Supreme Court case that ruled that murder is a civil right.

You can’t have it both ways, the Supreme Court is the one who is striking down abortion. You can’t on the one hand use the Supreme Court as the authority who granted this “right” and then complain now that the same authority is taking away the “right.”

Then you cited polls. No argument you have made is coherent

We have legal prohibitions on many things that are prohibited in the Bible. Murder, theft, etc.

Wait where does the bible say no abortions? Pretty sure there is a recipe for a bronze age one in there.

Abortion isn’t a church issue.

Most of the arguments against abortion use church beliefs, such as life beginning with conception. Many pro choice people don’t believe life begins until the baby is born.

Most of the arguments against abortion use the humanistic concept that human life is intrinsically valuable. People have different definitions on when life begins, clearly, but that doesn't put the entire discussion in the realm of Christianity by any means.

you sound like a reasonable sort, what steps would you authorize our police departments/sheriffs to take to restrict a woman's access to buying abortion pills online and taking them in her home or flying somewhere abortion is legal (assuming you live in Louisiana)?

I feel that abortion should be illegal in all states. Having said that, plenty of conservatives believe in states' rights. I'm not a diehard supporter of a state's right to make whatever laws it wants, especially if it's based on the majority. If you're not in the majority, then you don't get any representation. The majority can vote to take all of your rights away. With that said, I'm also not a supporter of laws being based on religion.

As for answering your question, are you suggesting states track their citizens and prevent them from traveling to another state for an abortion? If it's legal in another state, then I'm tempted to say the person cannot be prosecuted. However, if that is my position, then I would have to agree that a state can make whatever law it wants and I would be okay with it, which I'm not. We tried that before and ended up with some states legalizing slavery.

Seems to me that we can't really do anything other than make abortions illegal with the exception for rare and serious circumstances. Women can probably terminate their pregnancy in many ways. We would be left to prove malicious intent.

Truly, I don't think I have an answer or solution at this time.

It’s freedom of church from state, not “and”, which means the two should be separated.

It’s meant to keep the state out of religion/worship business.

I never said they couldn't take away that right. It is well within their realm of authority.

The James Madison (you know, the guy that wrote the constitution) quote does not put it that way. He says religious beliefs should not abridge the rights of others

I agree with that as well but you cannot say that ethics do not have a severe weight in defining laws.

He can and he did; he's just wrong.

All moral values are religious in nature. The fact that someone isn't a theist doesn't give their opinions more legal weight just because we don't have state sanctioned religions.

None of your arguments make any sense. You say on the one hand that the Supreme Court has the authority, but that this really needs to be a representation issue. Which side are you arguing for? The Supreme Court is literally giving this issue back to the states, where their representatives will make state laws that reflect their beliefs.

Again, if you are really worried about blurring the lines between church and state, let’s throw out all laws that reflect the 10 commandments.

They're fine with enforcing their moral values. The ones who don't realize that are morons.

Religious people are not “The Church”.

I bet if this polling was done for support of any number of laws that could be considered good for society, then those religious people would probably have a higher level of support as well.

Not at all. Murder is illegal with or without the churches say.
