Does anyone here actually want Puerto Rico as a territory?

Seriously. It's a lose/lose for the U.S. to have it. The days of needing it as a war prize from Spain are long over. Spain is a failed state, Puerto Rico is a failed state. They belong together again.

Seems like a one-way street to me.

Someone more familiar with them will have to tell me what we get from them that we desperately need.

Maybe fruit?

Not anymore. When the Hurricane hit it also took away its strategic importance which is that of a pharma manufacturing hub.

Nope.

I think Spain gave it to us and said “no backsies” when we got the Phillipines and Cuba from them.

We share no American culture with them. They are American only by passport. They are culturally Latin and Afro-Caribbean. They should be an independent shithole country, not a parasitic territory of the US. Could we just give them full sovereignty unilaterally? If so, we should.

75% of the land in our country was bought from either France or Russia.

PR should either be admitted as a state, or cut loose as an independent country.

Their status as it stands is not sustainable forever.

Well, there aren't any more enormous tracts of land like Alaska and Louisiana to buy from aging empires who can no longer administer them, for starters.
