Governors don't have the authority to shut states down, just like trump doesn't have the authority to open things up.

2 wrongs make a right in this case, and Trump understands that. He's just not going to waste his time explaining that to these clown simpletons in the crowd.

Executive Orders were how past Presidents bypassed the authority issue. Bush and especially Obama made frequent use of it.

He did “qualify” the statement a bit by saying on the scope of this topic, the president had total power.

I don’t agree agree with him as I like states rights, but at least he qualified the statement a bit after being asked about it again.

Not whining- just stating facts- but i can see why that would bother you.

I expect my fellow conservatives on this board will take issue w/ Trump’s declaration but I am curious if the Trump supporters will agree or disagree

Obama had a pen and a phone.

But really he should have said the Federal Government has authority over commerce.

Not the presidenr has total authority. But that is what he meant.

He definitely used his authority to tell that reporter “enough”.

And side note as much as he’s mentioned JBE I Hope JBE listens to his recs when he puts them out.

Obama spied on a rival opponents campaign with media and DOJ immunity... so yes, a POTUS does indeed seem to have absolute authority
