I'm a bit more libertarian my dad on a few issues, but other than that, we have almost identical political views.

T,

First that mixed race baby is adorable you handsome son of a bitch.

Second, my dad is a neocon Rush and Hannity guy. I voted Cruz in the Primaries and he voted Rubio. He voted Trump in general and I voted for Castle.

He’s more personified by W/Romney and I am by Cruz/Paul.

We probably vote the same way 99% of the time.

I'd say so. My father moved to Louisiana from California in the 60s and has long since passed on. But he was a republican in Louisiana when there were nothing but democrats in office. I'd say he was a little less right than me. His father served a short stint as a Republican HOR member from a western state. But damn, my sisters didn't fall in line. Today I've given fatherly advice to one kid and exchanged good will with another. Being a father never ends.

On a related note, progressives are progressive in part because they think it is the cool and more sophisticated thing to do.

Welcome to the board. I'd suggest working to yank chains on the PoliBoard. You should be judged not only by your upvotes, but also for your downvotes. I'll give you your first upvote.

My Dad is more of a conservative/traditionalist where I have more of a conservative/libertarian slant... BTW, great looking family. Happy Father's Day to both you & your Dad

My dad was conservative on most issues but was a union worker and was fed the bullshite about "republicans don't care about the little man." He voted democrat for most of his life but I do know he voted Reagan in 1984.

Fairly similar, but my parents did vote for John McCain. I stayed home. They're more party-line Republican while I'm an actual conservative.

This is a true statement. Although the democrats do not care about them either. Nobody does.

My dad was a Romney Republican, but just before he passed, Trump opened his eyes to the do nothing establishment. He supported Trump from day one and saw Trump elected. He was proud.

My dad was very conservative. So am I. My son and daughter are conservative too. I went a little liberal for a while in college, but soon came to my senses.

Your statement is false and an oft repeated cliche based on your observation that there are always poor people. There will always be poor people regardless of how great any nation is.

But you can bet all people with investments care about the little man. If the little man, the workers of the middle and lower middle class, are doing well, the upper middle and wealthy classes make money.

We have interesting conversations. He begrudgingly votes for Cruz. I begrudgingly vote for Cornyn. We both obviously agree Trump was the better choice.

Out in left field is my Bernie/Beto voting sister who (I love very dearly and would do anything for) lived at home till she was kicked out at 30 and is a complete mooch off of my parents to this day at almost 40.

I grew up being told = "Never vote Republican" - and he spat out "republican' like it was hot garbage. He even told my children that.

ALTHOUGH - all of us suspect he voted of IKE in '56. About that time he stopped talking about how bad "republicans' were.

In my youth, I was pretty much liberal - classic liberal, nothing at all like the DEMOCRAT garbage of today - I never ever had any adherence to any DEMOCRAT value of today's world.

However, I did vote for Nixon in '60 - but made up my mind after the debate - I listened to it on the radio and thought he was the better man. Later when I saw his image on TV he looked like a cadaver.

But, as I began paying more attention to political issues, I always felt the GOP reps had more cogent arguments and common sense solutions to the issues of the day as I understood them.

Since LBJ - I have never even considered any DEM politico - until they rid themselves of the disaster that LBJ initiiated, they can never be trusted with a leadership position.

EVERY domestic issue we have in America today is a direct result of DEMOCRAT initiatives and malfeasance.

I’ve voted Dem a few times. Back in the day Charlie Stenholm was a great guy.

I’ve also had some David Duke, Vitter, Roy Moore Republicans in my life where a classical liberal was a better option than a scumbag republican.

About half and half. He's staunchly fiscally and socially conservative. I'm fiscally conservative, but loosely liberal on social issues to an extent. Don't give a damn about gays wanting to get married, but still not to the point of letting trannies in a bathroom with my kid. I also don't believe we need to be force feeding social issues to kids at such an early age.
