Do you worry that Medicare for all could potentially happen? Not a joking matter

If it happens within next 5-10 years, I could potentially take a huge financial hit

I have always opted for the cheapest most catastrophic plans possible. I don’t use many medical services on an annual basis. I’m not into alternative new age shite, I just don’t require heavy or even moderate medical attention. I let ordinary sicknesses pass on their own. I don’t mind paying cash prices in the rare event I need to (i hardly ever meet my deductible)

Medicare for all would mean I would likely pay way more in increased taxes than I save by not having to pay my monthly lowish premium.

I have looked at the various studies and I don’t think there is a scenario where I would come out green. Unless like 80% of the funding will be burdened by business and millionaires.

There are a lot of people in my boat. People under age of 40 who take good care of themselves and only have insurance for its true purpose....to deal with huge medical events.

We stand to lose a hell of a lot of money if m4a gets through

The biggest problem that I see is govt controlled healthcare like UK, Canada, and others. When that happens there will be a revolt of epic proportions because people are going to pay a lot for a little and there will be many that pay nothing for something.

But my point is that we bitch about costs but American medical industry pioneers more innovations for medical research than any other in the world. This will be the end of medical progress. Also you will begin to see things like no surgeries for people over 75 for cost control. We will lose control over our own health care options.

I think the only silver lining is that people here are a.) fat b.) pussies c.) are quick to change who they vote for

If some Medicare for all thing plan imploded immediately, id imagine you’d see votes swing very quick

Which could change tomorrow. That's how illness works, dumbass.

You would see 40-50% of physicians retire or semi-retire. The other 60% would try to keep up financial by seeing more patients and spending less time with them. This has nothing to do with politics republican or democrat.

M4A is a scam.

Instead of fixing problems in the industry, it is just a way of saying "government will pay for it, so it isnt an issue anymore"

It is like seeing termite damage on the outside of your house and using a really really really expensive paint to cover it up.

I work for the largest health care insurer in the world. Our CEO mentioned Medicare for All yesterday in our Global Town Hall. He literally labelled some of the ideas in such plans as “impractical.”

He then went on to say “That doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen.”

There are a lot of people who would be on net losers though.

This isn’t hard to grasp

Can you imagine the nursing revolts that are going to happen when all of their salaries are cut by 30%? We already have to hear them bitch about how hard they have it

I fit this criteria. Very very very rarely have medical expenses, but of course I carry insurance in case

The scariest part of Medicare for all is that once government gets in control of the entire healthcare industry, going back will be extremely difficult. It is a horrible horrible plan that will crash our healthcare system. See Great Britain.

There will be an entire industry of non-participating doctors that will offer services to people who can afford to pay it, while everyone who can't afford it will wait in lines and generally see their level of care diminished.

You mean the countries where the rich come to America for medical treatment and the poor are denied medical treatment?

I think we’re fully capable of approving such a plan - but we would revolt immediately after approving it.

People just wouldn’t accept the level of service and the compromises that came with it. A country with 24 hour grocery stores and fast casual won’t accept any kind of rationing.

Only way I see it happening is if the CEOs from health insurance companies get a cut behind the scenes. No way they give in straight up.
