Because their politics annoy you?

I let them rant. Sometimes I even give them a nudge just for fun.

No
We may disagree but it's no reason to stop being friends. I welcome other points of view

no and this phenomenon is a big problem IMO. People do not need to be in an ever closing echo chamber of groupthink and confirmation bias.

my facebook is a dull and boring place with cobwebs and dust

It all depends on how they express their politics. If they're reasoned, logical points I enjoy engaging. I have quite a few friends who differ from my political point of view that fall under this. We've had some good conversations.
But I do have a few screeching meme monkeys who respond solely based on emotions. I unfollowed them, but didn't unfriend.

Only if their post frequency gets obnoxious. I don't care as much about their message as I do about how often I have to see it.

That's what I do, which is only marginally different than unfriend.

I don't friend them in the first place.

No. Facebook is useless. Occasionally, I'll troll by pointing out their hypocrisy or idiocy but for the most part I just ignore it. Haven't check it in months.
Hell, I haven't seen most of the people that are my "friends" in about 30 years.
ETA: Is "unfollow" the way that their crying doesn't make it to my feed?

If they want to be on face book,it's probably not somebody that I want for a real friend.
Posted on 2/22/18 at 10:51 am to ApexTiger
Nope, I just stop following them (don't let their liberal nonsense plague my newsfeed)
Posted on 2/22/18 at 10:52 am to ApexTiger
I hide the very, very few liberal friends I have. I do not go to Facebook for politics. Too many other sources for that.

I don't have Facebook.....pretty sure I'm the happiest a-hole in this thread

This. I do not politic at all on Facebook, I use it to keep in touch with family and friends. Part of a couple groups for kids sports and personal interests.
I give people lots of leeway, however when it becomes constant they get the unfollow.
