I don't think the Gregorian calendar is jettisoned any time soon for a calendar that is absent any religious references and in particular to Jesus Christ but there's no doubt many atheists would like all references to Christianity be removed from the calendar.
Many would like to get a calendar that is not inextricably tied to the Lord and Savior.
Up vote if you believe the Gregorian calendar is still the predominant calendar across the world 100 years from now, down vote if you think it's replaced.

I think it's working pretty well.

No reason to replace it and it would be damn annoying to adjust for it.

I refrained from voting because though I think that another calendar, if created, would be endorsed, the lack of one at the moment makes me think there will be no realistic alternative.

A calendar of 13 months with 28 days could work, with, just hear me out, a purge/orgy on the day left over. Just throwing out ideas.

Most of our weekdays are named for Norse gods, and that is not hurting anything.

I would like to see every season and quarter coincide (eg move Jan01 to Winter solstice abd Jul01 to Summer solstice), but who cares about the base year. Hell, the current system seems inconsistent with the accepted birth year of Yeshua bar Yusef.

Yeah, I don't think it's happening anytime soon but there's no doubt that as the world becomes more secularist I could see a predominantly atheist world wanting the religious references taken out of the calendar......, but I'm most assuredly wrong, God wins in the end.

I'm not religious and have no issue with the calendar.

Think there's a few more important things to focus in first.

Our days of the week are named after Norse gods, our months are mostly named after Roman gods, and the start date of our calendar is about three decades off from our best guess as to the purported birthdate of the incarnate Christian god.

And changing any of those things would be a massive fricking pain in the arse at this point.

No. Were too far ingrained in it, would be a major pan in the arse. We do need to switch to metric though

The French already tried it.

It failed miserably.

But, France....

Subtle?

I wish people would save their “upvote/downvote for X” for Facebook.

The Mayans had a more accurate calendar.
It was cyclical, not linear.
If only they would have saved water...

While we are at it, let's rethink this whole pesky Arabic numeral system.

I mean c'mon, Arabs? Amirite?

Rust Cohle approves of this system.
