Take the Romans with the Trojan Aeneas. for probably the easiest example.
You should think a little harder about that one.
The Etruscans spoke a non indo European language, the Romans, indo European Latin.
We know that Euboean pottery is found all over Italy.
People take on the myth, identity and language of their elites.
Look at Carthage, elite Phoenician traders took over and married into the locals.
Or more recent Ottoman/Turkish.
In these cases the founding "myth" is backed up by pottery and findings or historical record.
It is really similar to the elite transfer of Frankish Roman generals into French Kings.
Is Aeneas factual? No, but something separated the elites of Italy from the Etruscans.

You do too I take it?
I'm 70 and haven't believed the earth was only 6000 years old for 60 years or so now.
I have seen the sheer obstinance of Foo and others.
hellbent on believing the obscenely incorrect no matter what
You can prove that documents are spurious fraud, and used only to hoodwink people and they still declare massive blind loyalties to them. It is as though the blind loyalty trumps any real sensibilities.
Others have very real problems with reading the actual words themselves.
Agreeing with you, 'amazing'

I just gave 2 very easy examples out of potentially thousands. Hell, you can go to SSA alone and find hundreds of these stories.

People on this board complain about the middle east constantly yet follow a semitic middle eastern religion.

Foo also believes his choice to marry his own wife is 100% arbitrary. Might as well have drawn her name out if a hat.

Do you believe that the earth is 6,000 year old?
I do.
To take just one problem with that view, how do you square a 6,000 year old earth with the fossil record of dinosaurs? Do you believe that dinosaurs and humans were on the earth at the same time? Do you believe that Noah had dinosaurs on the Ark? There were over 1,000 different species of dinosaurs

Yes, Young-Earth Creationists believe that humans and dinosaurs lived at the same time, but dinosaurs did not survive the flood.

You should learn a little more about Roman history. The people who became the Romans fought more than the Etruscans. They also fought other Latin-speaking tribes or groups, and the “Romans” definitely viewed themselves as being different and more special than those other groups. I think SFP’s analogy of the Aeneas myth is pretty spot on.

So every single species of mammal, insect, and reptile made it onto the Ark, but not one dinosaur made it? That's some bad luck right there.

I was just looking and we don't know what language was spoken in Troy, but one popular theory is it was Etruscan or an Etruscan precursor, also
And

I looked it up. Yikes
Reminds me of two seminary students from John MacArthur's Masters Seminary I met in Los Angeles some years ago, They were both young earth creationists. They were obviously bright young guys, but they had to jump through so many mental hoops to reconcile their beliefs with reality. I was still doing Facebook at the time so I added them both as FB friends and kept up with them that way. One eventually left the ministry and joined the Air Force, The other, as far as I know, is still a pastor in Los Angeles and still holding to his young earth creationist views.

To point out that there are many many cases of elite replacement, Norman's, Romans, Islamists, who carried their oral history to a new land and base population that then adopted the oral history of the new elite.
It's rather the norm, are they by default accurate? No, but oral history is strong.
That's how the Greeks knew the name of the first Pharoah, long before we dug up his ceremonial items.

Are you deliberately being obtuse? Yes, it’s elite replacement, but “replacement” of a people that speak your language, have your same cultural practices, and worship your same gods.

You might not understand, but elite replacement of a people by an elite with a different culture, language or religion.
Sorry if you are struggling with this.
The Mexica are another good example
