One thing I noticed about people who seem to have strong empathy for immigrants is they don't know shite about immigration.

I worked in the field so I know a good bit.

And for the record, since folks are assuming I'm sure, I am not a democrat.

And when you claim asylum, you do that after entering the country. Not while you are waiting in another country to come here. You enter illegally then claim asylum. Then get work authorization.

Exactly. You can still claim asylum, South Africans have. You just have to prove its not for economic reasons.........and suddenly the millions who came before....and took American jobs are now going to lose those jobs. Sounds to me like they came for economic reasons and should never have been allowed in the country to begin with.

No need for insults or fighting words, although I'm down.

And I voted for DT. I just happen to research and think for myself instead of believing every headline that gets fed to me.

Are there? We’ll see I guess.

Feels like we need to pull back from these economic/hiring policies, cut people from the bullshite gov tit, and see where things fall.

It’s 2025.

We’re broke. People are lazy/manipulative takers. We need to end it all, pinpoint who truly needs what, and let the others either work and succeed, or fail. And if their failure harms a single normal person, wreck them.

How can we even morally push forward knowing how crooked the system is? Again, it’s 2025. How do we not have the tech and stats to min/max this shite?

We HAVE to end the practice of allowing all of the crookedness and allowing there to be sooooo many crooked moving parts that we don’t even care about the problem.

It’s like that saying about a few deaths is tragic while a million is some stat we can’t comprehend enough to care about. We’ve allowed the system to be so fricking convoluted that we just stare at it and think, “huh, that seems like it could bring down a nation but my goodness, idk where it starts or ends.” Meanwhile SOMEONE is clearly causing the chaos on purpose.

How do you even sleep at night knowing how bad things are? It has to end. And I rather go too far and try to fix it than not go far enough.

I agree with you. But I think DACA is the exception regarding not being admitted but eligible for employment. That said, they had to be here as little kids more than 15 years ago, so they have had a ton of ICE and USCIS interviews by now.

So they enter illegally as kids and are protected by DACA. When of age they can get work authorization.

Our system is abused heavily. There are more ways around it. Women can get escaping abuse tag. So refugee status.

And you also have people that just use stolen identities.

While living in Guatemala for 2 years, this was the policy.

- 90 day Visa ( 1st 90 days )
- 90 day Visa extension $150

After 180 days you MUST exit Guatemala for 72 hrs to reset Visa.

Every country has their own policies.

Oh boy..

1) These are not temporary foreign workers but people who are here legally and likely will continue living here, so having the ability to continue working to support themselves, pay taxes, etc., is a pretty good thing imo.

2) I agree with supporting American jobs. I don't think that is in conflict with allowing Americans-to-be the right to work--there's a lot of jobs remaining unfilled...

So which visa category are they on? H-1b? Any others? There are plenty of examples of employers undercutting U.S. opportunities using this visa. We should have an H1b visa but it absolutely should be scrutinized every year or two or three. Why wouldn't that be a reasonable thing to expect?

American's-to-be? Did they disclose this in their visa interview at the U.S. Consulate? Sounds like an unreasonable expectation to me.
