re: 'Diversity' commercials: It may be govt pressure

I learned from adverts that at least 50% of all hetero couples are mixed ethnicity.

The town I live in must be an anomaly.

Everything in commercials is the exact polar opposite of reality.

It's like they intentionally invert the race/gender of everyone involved from the supposed real world counterparts.

Yea it's not like government didnt step in the mortgage loan area and demand greater diversity that led to the housing market crash.

You think that picture-perfect McDonald’s Big Mac, with its oozing cheese and fresh, overflowing toppings, is an accurate depiction of reality? Or those OT 10’s gobbling down a Hardee’s triple bypass double meat grease bomb burger? You think that’s “depicting reality”? Don’t see anyone here complaining about that type of misrepresentation though.


You aren’t complaining about racial diversity in ads because of “reality”. It’s because you’ve spent the last 40 years of your life being a part of the demographic group that has been exclusively targeted by advertisers. Now other demographics are gaining comparable purchasing power, and advertisers are starting to target them rather than you, and for whatever reason you find that threatening.

It’s really quite pitiful. There are MUCH better targets for your anger than mixed couples on TV.

BUT - if they are interested in having TV ads portray real life, then all the "beach vacation' ads ought to portray cellulose women with belly hangovers instead of models with tiny bikinis.

Or - black men with ugly fat white women = 90& of what I actually see in real life.

Or - fat black women sitting on their asses concentrating on their fingernail art and tit tattoos rather than thin black women models directing billion dollar corporations.

and absolutely relate to the ACTUAL demographics in any 'crime-related' ad.

Otherwise this is all just another attempt to 'normalize' a fictitious narrative to make it difficult to address any actual problems in society.
