From the article linked in OP:
A similar article could’ve been written after Ted Kaczynski was arrested. Something along the lines of….
Ted Kaczynski, an American mathematics prodigy and former graduate student specializing in complex analysis, specifically geometric function theory at the University of Michigan, was arrested by men identifying themselves as “police”.
In other words, there is a bit of information missing about this Hamas-lover’s actions

Too bad than didn’t do that with Ilhan Omar

I’m not gonna question the legality of these type arrests but they need to be carful with the appearance of snatch and grabs in such a highly technical way.. I can say as a citizen, the sight of these type arrests are a sober reality of what government can do

So... when do we get to the disturbing part?

I’ve watched the video 7 times.
Which part is “disturbing”?

Indeed. Everything being done for you by government can and most likely be done against you on the near future.
It is not hard to see a future where anyone supporting Israel’s right to exist is a terror supporting Zionist subject to detention at any time.
And to the person saying wake me when a citizen is detained . . . there is a reason you start with the least sympathetic and powerless people. You incrementally desensitize the population to slight erosions of civil liberty vs a giant leap of abuse.

Not disturbing at all. You can apply some brain cells and realize that she is not panicking because she knows the jig is up.
She knows she was violating the rules and a candidate for removal. You would too if you were in that situation that’s why she has a lawyer.
Have you ever had a lawyer on retainer?
Did you have one when you were in school?

I think many of these students have to retain a lawyer to deal with all the paperwork and complications. We aren’t getting the poor ones, generally speaking, they’re coming from means to be here.
Hell, I remember many of these foreign students at UA driving exceedingly nice rides. Like NIL era football player quality.

I will give you that but all of the posters going on about how afraid they are of the secret police now that they’ve seen this clip need to think a little bit and understand the situation. As soon as that first agent approached her and identified himself and why he was there. She knew it was official. She knew she was in violation.
If I was in violation of something like that yes I would be afraid because this could happen to me. But no one is getting deported for their political views only. This person was doing much more than that to the point That she needed to be deported. That point cannot be rationally argued against.
It’s high time people like that were removed from the country.
Why hasn’t this been done before now?

What part was disturbing?
Also, I didn’t see any “hauling”.
A woman got arrested fairly uneventfully, and was walked to an agent’s car. Yes she was scared at first, and it’s upsetting to get arrested, but that was textbook.

Ned, I get your point generally. But the power of arrest granted to the government is a tool. It can be abused, yes, but thats the point not the fact of the arrest.
The one question is if it’s a lawful arrest done lawfully and within the spirit of the law.
If she or others like her are being treated in a way that is more aggressive than other similarly situated people, then we have something to gripe and fret about.

Taking what is being reported at face value, her attorney hasn’t been able to contact her, she has been relocated to Louisiana, and no charges have been filed against her.
It’s a pretty severe consequence to have that happen to you without a criminal charge being filed against you.
I generally reject the premise that people here legally do not enjoy constitutional protections against search, seizure and detention.
Right now it appears this has happened to her because of opinions she has about Gaza and Israel.
She and I almost certainly agree but there is no scenario where I want people being abruptly detained or deported for expressed opinions.
“Supports unamerican views” cannot stand in for probable cause.
You don’t like her views, don’t renew her visa.

As Paul Harvey used to say and the rest of the story. There is definitely more to this than just speech.
