I don't judge until I see evidence so I will take you at your word for now. Who did you vote for in 2024?

If forced to choose between Trump and Harris (neither of whom I considered to be a good candidate), I would have voted for Trump as the "less-bad" option. Candidly, I consider him to be a snake oil salesman, even if I do agree with many of his policies.

Fortunately, Texas was a lock for the GOP, so I was not forced to make that choice. I could (and did) cast a protest vote for the LPA candidate without giving anything to the Dems. Yes, I fully understand that Oliver (the LPA candidate) was not a very good choice, either.

GOP in Texas House looks to have major issues. What's going on there? So you are a Mitt Romney type of Republican or better known as a RINO?

No.

We could probably have an interesting discussion as to which faction within the current GOP constitutes the "real" Republicans ... those who support a century of Republican orthodoxy versus a collection of populists who were Democrats two decades ago.

But I doubt that would be particularly productive, because I don't believe that either faction has some exclusive right to claim the "Republican" mantle. The GOP is really more of a coalition than a unified party. It always has been. Thus, the term "RINO" (no matter who uses it) is simplistic nonsense.

My key issues are Limited Government and Strict Construction. Feel free to apply whatever label makes you happy. I might agree with your characterization, and I might not.

In an odd sort of way, SDV, I would have been disappointed if you had suddenly, somehow become an honest poster in my absence.

Not that there was ever any real chance of you finding your way to honesty.

It’s prideful and understandable to claim “Superpower” status while simultaneously begrudgingly accepting “police the world” responsibility. The America first policy takes us down a peg to permanent Great Power status along with near peer China. I believe it’s been that way for a while and it certainly lends itself to the belief 9/11 (and the 20+ years of constant war and drain of talent and resources that it caused) was truly the beginning of the end of Superpower status for America. There were other mistakes along the way for sure. However, “Superpower” status will never be achieved again by any nation.

Do define "selling out."
Please take your time.

Be sure to cobble together your definition in a way that includes use (abuse) of our European Ukrainian allies as human fodder in order to "Press Putin."

That would depend on which, if either, faction was most responsible for ceding power to the Democrats. If the answer as to concession is clear-cut, the conceding faction ceded its "right to claim the "Republican" mantle" when it put Dems in charge.
