I don't think 10/7 precipitated much of our hemispheric focus, tbh. The looming demographic collapse and the COVID canary in the coal mine did that.

I both support the military action in Iran and think that Israel sucks. So what now?
quote:No, not a whole lot, just retards who have been convinced that Iran somehow has the ability to strike us with nukes they don't have.
I'm also confident there are a lot more who feel the way I do.
Either way, Greater Israel thanks you.

Releasing his resignation letter publicly is the same as doing this.

How long will it take? what if it takes a year? that good with you?
As long as it takes, and yes. So far this has barely been a conflict at all for us. I'm all for obvious victory situations like this.

You sound just like John McCain in 2008.
In fact, I think he said the exact thing “as long as it takes” in hearings with then Gen. Petraeus.

I disagree. But I also think reasonable people can disagree over the propriety of the letter.
If I'm Joe Kent, I've lost my wife in war, I've been to war, and I think the US is being sold a false bill of goods about a conflict that could grow into a quagmire costing more American lives - a polite and non-vitriolic yet noisy exit being a breach of professional protocol might not be something I'm overly concerned with.

It was the domino which tipped all the rest of them for this is not a ME specific event but a re-set. Has DJT taken advantage of 10/7? Probably but all Presidents do.

Other than the fact that I don't want to put American lives at risk, sure.

I agree with Kent’s assessment that there was no imminent threat to the US and Israel coerced us into this.
With that being said, this operation could still benefit our interests. While Iran was never going to strike us out of the blue, they have been a thorn in our side since 1979, especially thru their destabilizing proxies. If we can remove them from the equation, we could see a largely peaceful Middle East and one less ally to China. Marginally better world for the US.
Is that worth 11 service members (as of now), Gulf states under attack, and short term oil price shock? Tough to say, but if this thing drags or spirals, then the answer is no.

It's a bat-signal to "journalists." He'll be on news shows within a week.

Explain it in detail. What, precisely what, are we missing?

There's no evidence of this. Yes, this action with Iran is in Israel's best interests, as it is in the best interests of the entire Middle East (as evidenced by Iran's retaliatory strikes against everyone BUT us and Israel).
But if you look at all of the actions Trump has taken with Venezuela, Iran, and Cuba, it lines up perfectly and make sense without diving into conspiracy theories about Israel. Iran was sewing discord in our hemisphere with their support of Venezuela. Venezuela supported Cuba with fuel. All of this has been disrupted and is why Cuba is now wanting to have discussions with us without us having to do anything directly to or in that country.

I think the most likely answer is that no, Israel didn't just dupe us into war. We may reasonably conclude that Israel romanced the intel a little in their interest and to our detriment.
I think it's probably also likely true that Iran was no imminent threat to US interests in a major way. I do think Iran was a threat to the Abraham Accords era we envision for the ME that would align with our hemispheric vision for ourselves.
I think it's very common for right and left to choose the questionable low hanging fruit explanation rather than the accurate and more complex one when talking to the public, and that it often goes poorly.
