SCOTUS is deciding whether the school can fire him for leading prayers after a game.

quote:

Justice Elena Kagan indicated that what Kennedy is asking for runs up against Supreme Court precedents, which have said schools can discipline teachers for activity that "puts a kind of undue pressure, a kind of coercion on students to participate in religious activities when they may not wish to." Even if it is clear a teacher is not speaking on behalf of the school district, coercion could be present, Kagan added.

mvariety

But teachers can push sexual orientation because it's not part of an established religion?

This shows what the SJW prong is all about, a war on Christianity.

If the coach was forcing them to have a call to prayer at the end of each game, you'd be outraged. No need to be a hypocrite, religion belongs nowhere in public high school athletics.

Except the coach was praying ON HIS OWN away from anyone else. And did it for YEARS until some panty-waisted members of the "board of education" decided they might get sued so they told him to stop. Now they DID get sued -- by him

Will HS athletes be suspended for doing the sign of the cross before stepping in the batters box, shooting a free throw, etc?

The left is pure filth.

ETA: Christ is King and Lord over all governments and institutions. While I wouldn't force anyone to pray, I would encourage prayer in every institution.

Why do I have vague feeling that you would feel very different about this if the coach was praying to Satan instead?

It has nothing to do with the flesh, or the earthly body, it is a matter of who you serve.
And if you are serving your own desires rather than being obedient to satan, as long as your desires are in line with his, then you are serving satan.

1John 3:10
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

If you are so fortunate to see death coming for you, I hope that you will decide that the cost of calling on God is small enough for you to do it, perhaps he will answer.

Wait…. Was he actually requiring them or implying they had to participate in it?

If it was just a voluntary thing what’s the issue? Even as a non-religious person, I would still go up with them and not pray to support my teammates who do.

He wasn't leading prayers. He was having a moment of silence after every game and the kids and other teams started voluntarily joining him.

Glenn Beck interviewed him last week. You can listen on his podcast.

I believe this was asked by one of the justices during the hearing. Also, asked if he kneeled during the national anthem would that be government speech.

Maybe. It too, would also be illegal.

Student initiated and student lead is totally legal.

How could this possibly be an issue?

I'm at the point where I don't care about hurting feelings....this nation was founded on Judeo-Christian values, and the Bible is our ultimate guide. Everyone else...if you are here and don't like it you are more than welcome to go back. Otherwise, do what you want on your own, but don't push it.

We are seeing what happens when you give people an inch that should be grateful they are allowed to be here. Also, when we let them make garbage up like "separation of church and state" being constitutional.

Assimilate, shut up, or get out. If your heritages' way of doing things was so great you wouldn't be here. So be thankful, not a POS.

Luckily you're all dying, so there will be plenty of space.

I always chuckle when those who follow the religion of atheism DEMAND that nobody else be allowed to pray.
