Ran across an old thread of his and notice hadn't posted since early May. In that thread someone mentioned he was either ill or having surgery?

I remember he took a leave of absence after Trump won the election. I think he mentioned something about being looking back and seeing how much time he spent on here and needed a break.

Not true. You just can't handle his (for you) inconvenient truth.
I don't know him, but he started posting occasionally in that "other thread" a few months ago. At some point, without going into detail, he said something like "I really need to get some good news tomorrow." Unfortunately he followed that up a couple of days later with "I knew I couldn't be that lucky."
He never did say what was wrong, and he continued to post for awhile. But just like the OP mentioned, I too have been wondering what his absence means. I hope he's okay.
