You’re a fool. You know exactly what he would be subjected to, how he would respond, and how it would appear to that audience. That show is for baboons.

You just gave your reasoning for DeSantis, saying you think he would do better with moderates and independents. Know who else that was said about? Presidents McCain and Romn… wait.

I think DeSantis is slightly to the Right of Trump ideologically but would nonetheless do better with independents / moderates

I guarantee you they invited him on there specifically so they could pick a moment to get up and walk out. It would have been perfectly scripted and choreographed

Well I won’t reciprocate by calling you the fool, I’ll just say you stopped a bit short on thinking this one through all the way. Let’s just start with the fact that although they definitely think they’re smart and clever, what the viewer actually sees is a gaggle of fricktards who are constantly either apologizing for something or getting rid of one of their own for being a little more of an idiot than normal, yadd yadda. And he’s Ron Desantis with the magnum size dingaling they keep saying. I don’t know about all that, but I am confident asserting that he is drastically more intelligent and quicker thinking on his feet, probably than all of them put together. I say those complimentary things even being a Trump first guy. Therefore he should have no and I believe would have no problem outwitting them, including the ready ability to anticipate with good amount of accuracy what they’re going into throughout the affair based on his keen perception of context clues.

So I’d predict they go into it waaay overconfident and the net result is he’s the clear “victor”.

Now, should the above ho sideways and they decide to go extremely low due to their frustration, he is also plenty capable of just shutting down and going quiet with a small array of open-ended responses to carry him through and to the end.

Finally, should they indeed get that frustrated with his preparedness and quickness and they do get nasty……that would most definitely reflect very, very poorly on them and he gains benefit just from that on account of taking the high road.

So there you go, that’s probably the full extent of a competent assessment of the particular situation.

It’s not the totality of the show itself which doesn’t have a large influential audience. It is the parts edited and removed, put on the network website, evening news, youtube and twitterverse that matter. It would be a losing proposition for him politically. Why bother? Again, it is a show for baboons. I apologize for the fool comment. (I really hate that program.)

How does a show that ridicules half the country every day continue to stay on one of the big 3 networks? It’s the most toxic group of people I’ve ever watched.

Man seriously, all jokes aside, my feelings are hurt for you, not by you.

I kid, and I wish you no ill will, I submit no further vitriol.

Some of you must not read good. The poster said DeSantis may appeal to moderates and independents. Do you need pictures?

Question: If there were no Ron Desantis, would you promote support of Trump?

It doesn’t. But it does mean that if squishy middle republicans want DeSantis because he will appeal to moderates and independents, it’s pretty much the kiss of death to his candidacy. Republicans who covet the squishy middle lose, every time.

If half assed marxist democrat policy and philosophy appeals to a person, most of the time they are going to vote for the professional marxist democrat, not the one acting squishy to get your vote.

Meanwhile, the democrat-lite republican can kiss the conservative base, and their chances goodbye. See: McCain, John. See also: Romney, Mitt. See also: Bush, George HW. See also: Dole, Robert.

If you don’t see a pattern, I can’t help you. Not saying for a second that DeSantis isn’t conservative. I’ll be happy to vote for him if he’s the nominee. But I will absolutely think twice about it if he is embraced by the Republican establishment, and starts pandering to the squishy middle.

I never said he would pander to the squishy middle.

I'm saying he would appeal more to moderates and independents because he is more disciplined and competent than Trump, and the election would be a referedum on Biden, who is polling horribly among moderates and independents.

If Trump is the nominee, it once again becomes about Trump, someone who was impeached twice. I know as well you that that was a kangaroo court, but he is going to be perceived as radioactive to the "middle" and suburban white women.

DeSantis is pretty interesting because while he's a little bit more conservative than Trump, and is not shy about advocating for cultural conservatism, he will play better than Trump in the middle.

On that last point, I'm not predicting this, but it's entirely possible the economic situation improves a bit by 2024, with inflation and supply chain issues easing. So, despite his best efforts, Biden may have the wind at his back in terms of the economy. However, the social issues show no signs of slowing down. That is what DeSantis is best at, and far better than Trump.

More than Trump. Trump is a threat to because he is unpredictable and has tons of baggage. DeSantis is firm and calculated, but more predictable and less baggage.

Sadly..
Trump would've probably said 'yes'. Trump mainly gives interviews to people who hate him. I understand the notion of even bad publicity being good publicity. But it sucks seeing smug motherfrickers who lie constantly about trump and his supporters, being rewarded by trump, with interviews.
