Your framing is off.

This doesn't "bother them" at all. They see it for what it is: a scared man who lost his fastball melting down.

quote:

The man has one principle in his entire ethos and it is to "win" - he has no limits on doing what he thinks it takes to win. And he probably, justifiably so, sees Ron DeSantis as his most immediate competition. It's a game to him - and when the game is over both players can have a proverbial beer and shake hands. This is how I think he views things.

Cool, and what he did in 15-16 can't be replicated.

Plus he's lost his fastball and grew complacent to online gossip/ talking points.

Plus, RDS is a better politician with a better record than any of Trump's competition in 2016

he did the same thing to all the republican candidates in 2016. Don’t worry, you’ll forget all about this when he wins next year

Exactly.

This is like the 2015-16 primaries all over again except we are much further along in terms of Trump already having his voting base. The same people that supported Cruz in the last GOP primary are supporting DeSantis right now.

If a nominee would just campaign on

1. Truly support the 2nd Amendment

2. Disband the ATF and gut federal agencies

3. Fix the border crisis

Then 2024 would be a slam dunk. But they'll frick it up somehow.

5. Ending wars.

Added for you.

I'm good with that. Throw in federal decriminalization of marijuana and you'd have a winner.

Oh man bad news, Trump has always been exactly the same, no change.

This isn't true. In the past he's supported (R) candidates even when he didn't like them.

They probably won't vote for him. DeSantis is doing nothing but brushing off attacks from Trump and they're already spending all day melting about Ron.

Once Trump started the attacks the blood oath kicked in and they won't be able to vote for Ron unless Trump blesses it

Trump is effectively alone on the GOP primary stage right now. No one is coming after him or challenging him on concrete issues or challenging Trump on the issues that he espouses. It's just surrogates and political squatters like Niki Halley attacking Trump on issues like "legal" problems or generational issues from afar.

When the race gets going and the candidates can focus on each other and debate the issues that's when the Trump campaign can be juxtaposed to the other campaigns and not defined by Pedro L. Gonzalez because Trump hurts his vag.

Pedro is pretty based/populist, he's not some lame MSM or RINO shill. It's a bad sign when Trump is losing people like him.

Sounds like something that a groomer would say

He's right, the GOPe is lining up the rinos to join the race, they will do Ronnie's attacks.

The establishment is still out of touch with voters and will fail like they did in 2016, Trump will win the primary.

His point about not leading on ideas is a big one. Is Trump just going to play a recording of his 2016 policies in-between 2024 insults being pushed live?

Do you expect Trump to act any differently than he has been since, say, Spring of 2021?

If Trump buckled down and was productive as a candidate "once the race gets going" that is one thing, but it will be a completely different personality/presentation than what he has been for a long time.

Trump will continue to lose support. I know you folks don't believe it, and you can't be convinced, but in a year he'll be a non factor.

He's self destructing faster than you guys can prop him back up.

This is major turning point for me - IF he is on the ticket I will vote for him.

But now I am leaning toward DeSantis - or someone like Cotton or a few others.

I dont think he makes it to July without completely imploding. May be silly, but if you just look at negative Trump posts on this board, it used to be 95% down votes...now it is 50% up.
