Did they go into a mosque and wave bacon around?

If they are allowed to pray wherever they want putting in a show, mocking Americans then they can take people watching them while eating whatever they want, including bacon.

Dont like it, go back to your sand land where it won't happen.

I'm tired of people appeasing that garbage cult, who believes everyone our infidels below them and whine when the "infidels" tell them to frick off.

Everyone involved with charging these guys need to be punished.

In all seriousness, look at the surrounding facts.

It was freeking DAWN in an empty parking structure. The asshats did not just stumble upon this prayer group. They SOUGHT THEM OUT for purposes of harassment. Hell, they even brought COSTUMES and props to their little bigotry party.

And why? Because the Muslims worship God diffently than that collection of rednecks.

Again, their actions were more than just bacon.

The statue also does not require the harassment be in a house of worship, just "any assembly of people met for the worship of God" It also applies to "Whoever willfully interrupts or disturbs any assembly of people met for the purpose of acknowledging the death of an individual with a military funeral honors"

If you are not already Muslim, you are an infidel. In Islam, you deserve death. But keep defending that evil

I have posted the relevant statutes and SCOTUS decision that applies to this incident. In your bizzaro world that equals "defending that evil".

If you hate the Constitution that much you might want to find a new place to live. Maybe America, with all of it's freedoms, isn't right for you.

Scroll up. Posting relevant statues and case law is not "defending that evil".

We have been tolerating Trumpists for almost a decade now, though their numbers do now seem to be in merciful decline.

But during that decade, have you not learned that their understanding of, and support for, the Constitution are both ... minimal

They care about their jingoistic and xeonophobic, hodgepodge "ideology." The Constitution is of no importance to them, at all. Hell, most of them would not recognize the Constitution as they take a shite on it.

They were praying on the roof of a deserted parking structure, at freaking DAWN (hours before anyone else on campus was waking up).

Please describe how that circumstance might constitute "mocking Americans." I will hang up and listen.

Florida Statute 871.01, “Whoever willfully and maliciously interrupts or disturbs any school or any assembly of people met for the worship of God, … commits a misdemeanor of the first degree.” It also applies to Military funerals and school events.

Florida Statute 775.085 has rules for hate crime enhancement when there is evidenced prejudice against “race, color, ancestry, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, homeless status, or advanced age of the victim.” This bumps first-degree misdemeanors up to third-degree felonies......oops

Florida Statute 784.0493 deals with harassment based on religious or ethnic heritage. It makes it illegal (first-degree misdemeanor) to “willfully and maliciously harass or intimidate another person based on the person’s wearing or displaying of any indicia relating to any religious or ethnic heritage.”

871.01 likely constitutional but does it apply outside in a public place?
775.985 likely unconstitutional if above is unconstitutional in public place
784.9493 likely not applicable because it involves wearing or displaying indices - this was prayer with bacon

Interesting. Ron DeSantis signed that into law. He did it after several antisemitic incidents.

Can you explain why it would apply to Jews but not Muslims?

Your point? None of that matters. It was in public. This didn't happen at a mosque or their private residence. When I lived near the coast, some churches would have beach baptisms. There would be nothing stopping anyone from voicing their displeasure with Christianity during it. Liberals publicly pour urine on the crucifix and it was ruled protected speech. Your argument has no weight.

Idgaf. I don't care about a garbage cults sensitivities. Especially one that thinks I'm below them as an "infidel". They can go back to their craphole hellhole for all I care.

They are running cities telling Americans to leave if they don't want to awaken by their garbage. Frick'em

No one is claiming the law should be applied arbitrarily. We're saying it's completely unconstitutional. I don't give a damn that it has Desantis' signature on it. He better be wearing his high heels when it gets struck down.
