Its just got to be DeSantis 2024. This guy is killing it.
Just smarter, more polished, and more on-point. MAGA with a Harvard law intellect. He will destroy the Prog Dems who wants to square up.

Talk about something other than social issues like “being woke, gender pronouns, and Covid restrictions and I’ll pay closer attention.
Buck the establishment on trade, foreign policy, and economic strategy and I’ll take a closer look.

DeSantis has been flawless in picking fights so far
It may be time to just trust his instincts on 2024
If he runs, I assume he'll have a very compelling and crafty plan to deal with Trump
If he doesn't, have to respect that too and assume he's got a longer outlook

I am copy and pasting my response to this from the other thread:
Polished? Yes
Smarter? not really, but he's not dumber either. both are incredibly intelligent
better candidate? meh, maybe, but not by a lot. his ability to sell his positions is better than Trump, but Trump now has a proven track record of actually making America great. That goes a long way.

No. Trump is the lead, and BDR is his top General in the MAGA movement. This is still Trump's movement here, and BDR will have his turn. He needs to finish making Florida great before moving on to America.

100%, but so will Trump.
The other major issue here is will BDR be able to handle the endless attacks that will be thrown at him. GEOTUS has the moxie to do so, and he has been doing it for 8 years now. Trump is a natural fighter, and what he lacks in his oratory skills he makes up for with his wit and fighting spirit. Dude is a brawler that is afraid of no one.

You'll get 4 years of Kamala.
You can't feel it from inside the bubble, but there is serious Trump fatigue on the right. A lot of center-right people just want adults back in charge.

Here's the biggest difference and take this down:
DeSantis can appeal to the middle and can get swing voters. he is far better candidate than Trump insofar he can get the independents and traditional Republicans. He can win in the swing states.
Trump is too toxic. Its not fair it just is what it is at this point. He has his hardcore base which is huge but its not enough.

Fair or not, Trump is radioactive at this point and isn't bringing any new blood into the tent.
Even dyed in the wool liberals are sick of the Woke Inquisition and are ripe for the taking for someone like BDR with a relatively clean slate and the clear leader in actually doing something to push back on clown world.

Trump got 74 million last round. Seems like a pretty good “base” to build upon with a full head of steam going in.

There is no building that base though, thats the problem. Everyone has long formulated their opinions and they either love him or hate him.

Sometimes you need someone that can use both a hammer and a scalpel.
Trump is all jackhammer all the time, which is great to watch but wasn't overly effective at times.
I think Desantis will be more effective at wielding both and get more done for us.

This is true. Still this is Trump's party now, and BDR is playing in it. While I think he is a superb candidate, I do not think it's his time to run yet. He needs to finish in Florida and have Trump finish in America.
As far as huge plusses go, Trump actually did amazing things for this country as President, and he did more than any President in any of our lifetimes. Nothing is bigger than that. At the end of the day, he has a tangible success record that is phenomenal. He is an absolute known product, and people love him.
Plus he legitimately pulled in more votes in 2020 than any other candidate in history, unlike the other guy that had to rely on fabricated mail in ballots to beat the beast.

DeSantis needs someone to get in the trenches to clean house so he can polish everything up after the dirty work is done. We need Trump then DeSantis.
