The truth is without slavery many blacks here today would still be chasing lions in Africa and living in grass huts

But sometimes certain truths are better to be avoided by public figures. Ron stepped in it here

Glad we agree about this. This thread is a perfect example of the division. Trump fan trying to take down Desantis using leftist headline.

You can’t convince me that the Gumbo Pots, JJs, Robb Bob, aren’t dem plants.

Yea but saying that is akin to saying Germany benefited from Hitler because he built the autobahn

Hit piece from the WaPo ... SOP. If you actually listen, nothing he said was improper, or incorrect. Racially insensitive, maybe. Just another CNN quack looking to hit a double and only got a bunt that resulted in an out at first plate.

If it didn’t benefit them, why didn’t they go back?

How many black voters did Trump win? Can anyone remind me? 10%? Does he want a trophy for that? He could win every black voter and it wouldn't matter if he loses the election anyway.

Despite it being true, (that blacks benefited from slavery) it doesn't make it less of a tone-deaf statement.

It's kind of the same logic, Thulsa Doom, had for killing Conan's parents/village and turning him into a barbarian.

"Cuts head off Mother and Father... you're welcome."

That's what it sounds like to blacks today when you say they were afforded skills and opportunities they otherwise wouldn't have had if their ancestors remained in Africa.

You Trumptards sound like the libs that are offended by the Aldean song. You’re reading something into nothing and finding racism where it doesn’t exist.

Congrats

That’s not what he said. Congratulations on following the media narrative.

Do we know the question that he was asked that prompted this response:

quote:

“They’re probably going to show that some of the folks that eventually parlayed, you know, being a blacksmith into doing things later in life,” DeSantis said on Friday in response to reporters’ questions while standing in front of a nearly all-White crowd of supporters.

I’d like to know what Ron was responding to. I don’t trust the media at all to report honestly.

What’s the beef with the statement? It’s factual and shouldn’t be anymore taboo than any other race relevant fact.

Blacks today are benefiting from Slavery, Jim Crow, and the Civil Rights Act. A few have taken advantage of those benefits afforded them, while the majority have been too lazy, stupid, and victimized by Democrat Race Hustlers.

We, as Americans, are all afforded opportunities from the day were born until they day we die, opportunities only dreamed about in the majority of the world. What you do with that gift is entirely up to the individual. Free will is a wonderous concept.

It was a discussion about the African American history sections in the new Florida history curriculum. That is written by black authors.

Trump want save Ron from this fallout, like he did the last time.

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/08/29/ron-desantis-andrew-gillum-monkey-florida-elections-801685
Rep. Ron DeSantis, who sealed the Republican nomination for Florida governor on Tuesday night, launched his campaign against Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum by warning Florida voters to not “monkey this up” by supporting the African-American candidate.

The comment, delivered on Fox News, was widely panned as racist, with the Florida Democratic Party chairwoman calling the remark “disgusting.”

quote:

Gillum won the support of Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders and billionaire donor Tom Steyer, while DeSantis’ received a coveted endorsement from President Donald Trump.

It’s very clear that Mr. Desantis is taking a page directly from the campaign manual of Donald Trump,” Gillum said. “But I think he’s got another thing coming to him if he thinks that in today’s day and age Florida voters are going to respond to that level of derision and division. They are sick of it.”

When pressed whether the comment was racist, Gillum paused for a moment before sidestepping the question.
