If Dersh is grifting, he is doing it wrong.
He is getting less influence and less money by backing a side which is seen as a social pariah by “society” types.

it's a grift because the bold part is not true (it is not rational or reasonable), yet you believe it to be (because it's intentionally calculated echo chamber red meat)
So ignoring everything else and only considering that Merchan threatened, unethically and unconstitutionally, to strip Trump of his constitutional rights to strike Costello's entire testimony, a defense called witness mind you, based off of court decorum issues and Costello's behavior.
Dershowitz witnessed this and can reasonably judge where Merchan's limits are based on that alone (again, ignoring everything else) and that isn't sound reasoning in your opinion?
So if a guy pulls a gun, shoots your wife, and threatens to do the same in your world you can't make a reasonable argument that he means it.

There are a lot of legal minds that have been in that courtroom and say they have NEVER seen a judge act the way this one has. Other than the fact that there has NEVER been a prosecution of a case like this one.

As bad as the Legislative and Executive branches are they are Romper Room when compared to the Judicial branch.
The Judicial branch has done more to erode and undermine 'We the People' than the other two branches combined - the Legislative branch is right on its heels and guess what....typically a bunch of damn lawyers...
These self-styled Bastions of wisdom are IDIOTS...not one - not one had the gonads to curb the overreach imposed on the American people during Covid....talk about being trampled upon.
In fact, the Judicial system is pretty much the enforcement wing for anything and everything Progressive
