There is zero reason to have all these armed federal agencies. There should be one federal police force that enforce federal laws and regulations. That can be the FBI. There is no other reason to have that much overhead and bureaucracy. It's a waste of damn money.

I disagree. The Department of Education needs a police force. What's that? They've already got one? Nevermind.

How many FBI and homeland security agents do you think are assigned to rural areas of Mississippi?

There's an FBI office in Jackson. I think MS is ok.

Maybe they need them to go after those committing SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) fraud.

But probably not.

Feds who have armed agents/officers:

Dept. of Education

EPA

Library of Congress

Federal Reserve Board

National Institutes of Health

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Department of the Interior

Gotta protect the Federal Government from those evil Americans.

I don't think you realize how few agents most of those departments have. Many fall under the Inspector General's office and are only there to investigate fraud in those offices. The dept. of education is huge and employees who are suspected of commiting fraud are investigated by that office. Some of those OIG offices have only a handfull of agents. This is more unfounded hype being spewed forth on the internet.

So...you think it's efficient for each of these arms of the government to have a militarized force?

If the number is > 2, they're doing it wrong. I get each branch needs investigators. They don't each need a SWAT team.

Where did I say that? Carrying a weapon of any kind does not make a militarized force. We are a country who's very fabric has been made up by firearms so to call any entity carrying one militarized is just silly in my opinion. I also said that i believe we need to reduce the number of federal law enforcement agencies but that obviously hasnt happened yet.

How do you know what they need? I will admit that i don't know what they need. Perhaps they regularly assist U.S. Marshals task force teams in rural areas and they need the weapons for that. The truth is that I don't know and neither do you but I feel certain they don't want the weapons in order to start some sort of suppression of the citizens of our country.

Anybody with a truck can buy fertilizer in bulk quantities. Anybody. I buy two tons every year from the co-op and nobody's come to check if I've put it on my pasture or not.

Mr Kimball needs a Patriot missile battery and a couple of B-2s.

It doesn't matter why they're initially acquiring it. Once they have it, they have to use it.

Local police are using SWAT teams to check barber shops licenses (happened in Baltimore). Know why? Cuz they got the gear. If you got the gear, you gotta use those new toys.

There were over 40,000 estimated "SWAT" raids in our country last year. The militarization of all our police forces is insane. And it needs to stop.

I read the far purchase order and believe the only weapon that would fill the order would be an H&k ump. What other possibilities ?

Government being inefficient!? I'll bet the Dept of Ag cannot wait to withhold information from the FBI to be able to score a big bust and kill a bunch shite.

First of all that number is "estimated" which means it is not accurate but even if it was in a country with a population of 317,000,000 that means that .00012 of people experienced a SWAT raid.

If you don't see how the militarization of the country's LE community is increasing, then you've got your head in the sand.

The DOA's request for submachine guns is for close quarters combat i.e. tactical raids or shooting in confined spaces such as from vehicles. That is the only use for that weapon. These aren't long guns that can be used in various situations.

Of course they are for CQB. Most shooting occur within 7 feet and if they need to clear a home they should have the proper weapon. I would be a hell of a lot more worried if government law enforcement agencies were ordering thousands of M24 sniper rifles. I don't know how some of you get out of bed in the morning with the paranoia you live with.
