We should give more loans. That will decrease the costs. Surely?

Loans were increased once the schools started jacking up the prices. College has gone up exponentially. Capitalism I guess, charge for the name and access

No, dillhead, the price went up commensurate with the loans, not the other way around.

Would you rather I support that by personal anecdote or historical trends with an obvious correlation?

I know someone who is high up in the education field and asked them about getting rid of DOE and she said “ Thank God”. Basically, she said that it was completely useless, and a waste of money. Said that the States already do what the Feds are supposed to be doing, so it’s redundant, and that all the Feds do is tie money to DEI initiatives, so when the DOE is gone, they can get back to teaching….

Loans are free money to colleges with zero risks. They can charge whatever they want.

How about make the colleges responsible for their own loans.

I wonder what would happen then.

The "Dear Colleague" letter from the obama administration quashed any hopes of an education for any kid in the inner city who truly wanted to succeed.

One of the biggest wastes of money in taxpayer history. Good riddance.

Where is this money going?

It's a large country with different laws in every state. Having a staff that understands the differences in every state and how to take action is really an impossible task.

I will say I am concerned with the full dismantling of the DOE. There are a lot of children with childhood diseases and disabilities that are the benefactor of the DOE's enforcement of laws guaranteeing their rights to access to education.

I have never met anyone who was educated by the department of education.

Have any of you?
