I'm curious what the DEM strategy/plan is, here

To get McCarthy removed then try to sneak a Dem into the Speaker spot by voting as a solid block if the GOP splits its vote badly enough.

Lord if this happens, it would be so hilarious and sad at the same time.

But at least they fought!

Burn-It-Down heathen here. Sounds like a good reason for McCarthy to have done exactly what he promised to get the gavel to begin with, doesn't it? Your anger or disdain is improperly placed.

Here is the problem. You care more about McCarthy going down than you do about your own best interest. It's sad.

If that's even remotely true, why are the Dems voting to remove McCarthy?

Chaos

But more than that, they are taking the risk to gain more power as SFP said.

They risk it to either get more concessions from the next speaker or they bail KM out at the last minute and get him to cave to their demands more. Dems have nothing to lose here and everything to gain.

Let me guess, you like KM because he is all about sending more money to Ukraine.

McCarthy is gone! He needs to give up and accept that he lost.

No, but it sure helps, doesn't it?

If this country is salvageable (which I seriously doubt) it will be Patriots that do the saving.

They're using the bait of KM to suck in the GOP while the GOP is acting so emotionally. That is for sure.

Not really. They're not big enough to require partisan lines. I don't know many Republicans in my life who support MAGA. Most will close their eyes and vote for them, but they really hate it.

Let me know when they want to slash Social Security and stop proposing welfare programs like tariffs.

Don't get me wrong I still think KM needs to either go or hold up to the promises he made but I also see where this can potentially play right into the Democrats hands.

My best interests aren't served by having a shitty, capitulating republican as SOH. Not when he was elected, and not now. We may get someone worse than McCarthy, which is likely, considering the number of shitbag republicans there are in the house. Here's to hoping that whomever it is actually keeps the promises made to the pitifully few conservative members there are.

I am guessing you mean that last sentence facetiously, but it's more true than most realize.

Not fighting means to continue the same sort of DC irresponsibility that has suspended the debt ceiling until 2025 while creating a $2T deficit in the face of what will be ongoing $1T+ annual servicing on $33T+ (and ground) debt.

I would rather someone fight and fail than continue to just ape the words.

Stop with your Ukraine bullshite. You're obsessed with that.

My opinion in this speakership civil war has nothing to do with Ukraine.

I don't "like" McCarthy. But I hate the idea that the Dems are making the Republican majority in the house look like a bunch of blithering fools (not that Gaetz needs anyone's help in that when it comes to him). They are going to use this speakership circus to their advantage when they try to retake the House next year.
