We'll agree on that to some extent. But the "conservatives" you speak of, I call RINOs. Uniparty stooges. They are all the problem, and they are the overwhelming majority.
There are very few principled conservatives or true Democrats left in federal government. It's a shame.

I had dinner with one tonight. He’s about 76, a retired attorney, lives in Charleston Utah, farms about 10 acres in hay. His wife trains border collies as sheep dogs. He grew up in West Virginia poor, got a Chemical Engineering degree. Worked for one of the big chemical companies for a few years and wasn’t wild about the plant environment, so he got his law degree and moved out west. His specialty was mining and water rights.
The two of them are as nice as anyone you’ve ever met. He thinks the Dems went overboard with some things, like trannies in sports, but he votes for them over the Republicans.
There are millions of good people like him who just see things differently. This caustic idea that everyone on the other side is evil is the poison our Fore Fathers warned us about.

Doesn't matter how nice someone is, if they see how something like this isn't good and still vote for it, they are not good people inside.
To be clear, people who vote for the killing of innocent babies, and the sexual destruction of children, are not good people inside and need to get right with God. Point blank.

Nothing you wrote tells me they’re good people. You had a nice dinner with some folks who were agreeable in the moment. If your friendly nod to a righty is “hey man, I know we’ve gone a little far with the tranny thing” then you’re probably a terrible person.

Nearly all of my family are brainwashed libs. I don't even know where to start to explain it to someone on this board other than they are that way because of MSM and the social media circles they are in. My mom would almost surely admit that the tranny thing went too far, but my brother and sister are so brainwashed that they just think you're a bigot if you even question the whole thing. They think Fauci is a hero and RFK is a terrible person. They mostly perceive Trump as a power-hungry old idiot. I think they would admit they didn't really love the Biden administration.
It has gotten to the point that I mostly don't discuss politics with them.

No. He is a neighbor who I like. We got into politics a bit during covid, because I was pissed at the lockdowns, etc, and he thought they were all in good form. I think events have born me out, but maybe he does too. Anyway I decided I liked the guy too much to let politics interfere.

I think it’s a little like the frog that gets boiled to death because he doesn’t sense the temperature rising gradually. He has always been a center-left guy who reads the New York Times. He didn’t notice that the NYT gradually went from center-left to solidly left wing because it happened over many years.
And I had more than “a nice dinner” with them. I’ve had about 60 nice dinners with them. And you know why? Because they’re NICE PEOPLE.
