-All places that are islands, with secure borders (because water)

-US can't secure it's southern border now.

-if the US banned guns wholesale, they would still come in through the southern border

-England, Australia, and New Zealand don't have these problems because water

Just saying

This isn't to say I would support ending the 2nd if we were an island. I just wanted to debunk this often used argument for gun control.

Edited to clarify: Not talking about guns being needed to secure border. Talking about inability to stop guns coming into the country

The left often says gun violence in Chicago is bad because of guns being imported from neighboring states like Indiana.

What do you think will happen if you apply the same concept to the country?

Guns will come flowing in through the wide open southern border.

And then criminals will be the ones getting their hands on them.

I believe all 3 of those places were in serious danger of being overrun by the japs and nazis.

Our Canadian neighbors are about to have a fire sale on handguns if they get that ban in place.

People in America from England, Australia, and New Zealand don’t misuse guns here.

What’s sad is the average American doesn’t know this, and doesn’t care to.

Not even that is true. Gun homicides went up in Britain after their gun ban, so British official changed the way they compile stats. Now, in order for an incident to be classified as a gun homicide, there has to be a criminal conviction involved.

In other words, all unsolved gun murders don't get counted as gun murders.

The second amendment is there to protect us against threats from our own government as well as external threats. Regardless of the border situation/national security, it's existence is necessary and should not be given up or done away with.

Not the point I was making

I am saying that if the US banned guns wholesale, they would still come in through the southern border

Or flown in to Mena, Ark. If drugs can be flown in there I see absolutely no problem with doing the same with guns.

Indiana must look like the Wild West. Or maybe the problem is something else….

All are documented and go through customs, except channel crossers.

To be clear, they are not perfectly secured. . .but significantly more secure than the US

It's a little known fact that their ban and buyback only ended up gathering like 30% of banned weapons - basically permanently stranding the 70% in a black market. If anything, their example shows that guns in the hands of citizens are quite safe.

Water is a deterrent to people who can't swim, so you're technically right.

The Japs considered a full invasion of Australia but didn't have the manpower to do that, fight the USA in the Pacific, and fight the British in SW Asia simultaneously.

Yeah, let’s just look at how that worked out for the people in those countries.

During the Covid pandemic, they became totalitarian regimes because the government had nothing to fear from the people.

If we're going to start smuggling guns in - we'll get the real stuff too.

Full auto AK, RPG, claymores.....
