Did anyone else hear the audio bit on the news? I know the commies like to nationalize private companies. But can a city actually do that in America?

Good luck with that.

It blows me away, people are seriously pushing for a centrally planned economy, here in the states.
I thought we won the Cold War.

Can you imagine the level of graft, incompetence, and outright laziness that would abound in a government run electric utility? Especially one in a strong Union city? The private generator business could not keep up with the demand.

De Blasio is worse than David Dinkins.
That is an impressive accomplishment.

The Cold War never ended. It just went into hiding.

That's a money grab.
DeBlasio has spent most of his time as mayor grubbing for money, and if he's looking at Con Ed, that's why.
It's a move designed to benefit the government of NYC, not the people of NYC.

The Union bit would be problematic but there are examples of non-union public power utilities that are doing a decent job.

We did, but we've allowed marxist/socialist/communists to fester like a boil on our arse for decades now. The democrat infection is so bad now, that it is making us sick, and unable to perform. Trump has popped a hole in it, and the first little bit of nasty shite has come out. It's now time to drain that (swamp) boil.

Flint, MI never happened in your dim little world eh?
quote:
Four government officials—one from the city of Flint, two from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), and one from the Environmental Protection Agency—resigned over the mishandling of the crisis, and one additional MDEQ staff member was fired. There have also been fifteen criminal cases filed against local and state officials in regards to the crisis.[11]

No need to imagine... Look at Porto Rico.

Easy to name plenty of others where the government has failed, miserably, to provide safe drinking water. Often because government-run sewage treatment plants contaminating the very sources they draw from.
