A few years back they did DNA test on a 150 mummies. I can’t remember all the details but I believe the mummies where from the Middle Kingdom era. Anyway they published the results and the mummies where basically related to modern Greeks more than any other population with the minority Coptic Egyptians having links as well. Next to no sub Saharan DNA. A lot of people got really mad over the findings and called the scientists racist for publishing.
