Some yall seem to think LEOs should have to take extra risks with their lives to give people the benefit of the doubt. That's false.

Honestly, I'm a bit on the officer's side(PURELY in terms of criminal discussion) here.

But yes, I absolutely think LEOs have to take extra risks and to think otherwise is pure insanity.

They are STATE agents who create interactions with citizens. THEY are the professionals.

My biggest problem that I've seen in relation to the police is this weird "go home to my family" view that actually LOWERS the bar by which they can shoot people.

It's absurd that cops seem to think their ROE should be that of a combat zone. Worse though is that in reality, when I was in Afghanistan, we had more stringent ROEs than many cops seem to believe they should be allowed to operate with.

And we were in an ACTUAL war zone!

You'll need to address that question to the department for which he worked.
I don't really though, it's apparent. They got tons of pressure from libtards, blm, etc.. because everybody jumped to conclusions about this or like you they don't actually think a black person can ever contribute to the circumstances that lead to their own death at the hands of a cop regardless of what they were doing.

Police negligence obviously isn't a crime, but at least it's still considered a fireable (firable?) offense.

Yeah. This is my thing.

I'm a shade concerned about making stupidity or lack of spine a criminal offense because the reality is, we, the taxpayer, demand that cops interact with people. The NY choke hold situation for example is AT LEAST AS MUCH the fault of the citizens who supported that stupid fricking law in the first place.

But, at the same time, it is very obvious that some officers use this shield as a cover for too much shite.

Frankly, in this particular case, I think it's a classic example of a series of things happening in close succession where a person who probably shouldn't have been hired as a cop in the first place fricked up. I'm loathe to send a man to jail for that. But, I'm completely comfortable firing him for it.

No. But they weren't tasked with the question of "was Castile going for his gun?" If you think they were, you're making a strong bid for dumbest statement in the thread.

Have you read the DAs statements? It's pretty clear many rational people believe the cop was wrong

I think he should have been found not guilty AND, I think he should have been fired.

Not everyone should be trusted with a badge and a gun and sent out to engage citizens in potentially challenging circumstances.

Not everyone has the intestinal fortitude to avoid killing people out of fear.

Yanez clearly isn't the composed of the fiber I'd like in a person handed a badge and a gun.

If you're right, it seems like a wrongful termination suit would be teed up for him perfectly.

But he won't sue, because he was bad at his job and fired for poor performance.

I prefer more of a consensus. I suspect the results would be similar.

A football board of Southerners on the police shooting of a black man? Wow. Hard to tell where they're gonna come down on this one. I hope that your intellectual company gives you great solace.

It's fun watching you use this like I'm part of any "group" here.

Keep being you.

Police training is a joke in this country. But so is the pay. Who in their right mind would want that job?

Everybody in this country wants "Supercops". But nobody wants to pay for it. The best and the brightest move on to state and federal jobs leaving the new and leftovers to patrol the streets. In the Army you drill all the time for war. Police officer graduates the academy and is put on the streets.

But in most of these cases the fault is not on the police officer.
