I prefer more of a consensus. I suspect the results would be similar.
A football board of Southerners on the police shooting of a black man? Wow. Hard to tell where they're gonna come down on this one. I hope that your intellectual company gives you great solace.
Traditional southerners are bootlickers by training

Gladly.
So, we're right back where we started.

It's absurd that cops seem to think their ROE should be that of a combat zone.
All of the use of force policies I have read for AL LE Agencies real almost verbatim like the affirmative defense of self-defense for civilians in AL. This is a good thing in my opinion.
The agency that I worked for last followed the statute, the agencies I worked to prior to last one had similar policies, and now that I am on the other side the agencies that I have looked into (granted not every agency) read very similarly.
The statute I reference is 13A-3-23. Any person that carries a firearm in AL in any capacity should familiarize themselves with this statute or stop carrying a firearm.
13A-3-23 As Published by the State of AL
Compare the above to your own state's legislation and then compare it to the policies of the LE agency(s) you interact with. Happy motoring.

Have you read the DAs statements?
Well, the DA is bringing the case. Their take might be slightly biased.

Everybody in this country wants "Supercops". But nobody wants to pay for it.
Infantry Privates in Afghanistan were expected to operate under ROEs that placed them at greater risk than the typical cop seems to think he should endure. And those privates make a LOT less and are working in actual war zones.
I don't really expect super cops. And, like I said, I wouldn't have found this guy guilty.
But, for frick's sake. Quite often, the simplest solution to "I'm scared shitless" is to back up.
I watched 100 pound woman with a 6" knife gunned down on video while surrounded by 4 cops including 3 men over 200lbs. The woman was literally mentally ill in need of treatment and might actually have been a decent human had she gotten the treatment.
In another situation, a butter knife wielding, Yes, I said BUTTER KNIVE wielding 91 year old in need of back surgery was gunned down by the 2 cops called to the nursing home to assist. I mean frick. The nursing home would have been better off calling 2 bubbas.
That's just bull shite.

Yup. fricked that one up. Not a secret.

Yep. Owning it doesn't negate it.

Thank god those officers went home safely.

Deadly force is deadly force regardless of who wields it. I for one, do not want agents of the state having more leeway than civilians. That is the definition of tyranny.

The SHOULD have less.

The police are under no obligation to "back up" and you don't really want them to do you? I mean think of all the times police have ran TOWARDS gun fire to protect truly innocent people. Would you have preferred they "backed up" too?
Posted on 6/22/17 at 2:59 pm to Five0
I think he wants civilians to have less (which they practically do).

I expect them to. They are under no obligation to protect me, as it should be.

If the choice is "back up" or shoot the 85 lb. bipolar kid armed with a screwdriver in his house, they should shoot?

Not in this state. I want everyone to be on equal footing with the use of deadly force due to the misapplication of the force tending to end in a permanent result.
Not to mention, it chips at the "us vs them" dynamic.
Posted on 6/22/17 at 3:04 pm to ShortyRob
So your saying poorly trained officers made bad judgement calls on those two cases. Me too. But we spend more time focusing on the Castile type cases because of the race hustlers. And less time focusing on areas that need to be addressed.

Was the officer's defense "he was going for his gun"?
