“Recoveries“ are probably closer to “treated and released by hospital and followed up with ID doc” at this point I’d guess.

The "recoveries" part confuses me. I know someone who is a 38 year old man, he went skiing in Colorado around March 6-13. Came back to Memphis and ended up with the virus. He has been fever and symptom free since Monday, but from everything I see there are no "recoveries" in Tennessee. I may not be looking at the right sources though.

Very honest, not any intention of it sounding ugly: what else can he tell us to do? (I'm staying home except for groceries and necessities.)

Being governor is about more than just telling people what to do.

And New Orleans is the major part of the problem, so focusing attention and resources there should be a priority.

The genie is probably out of the bottle, but at a certain point, he wanted the job, he gets the blame for underperforming relative to other Southern states.

Have you heard any updates today about the NOLA area?

Looks like New Orleans is about 3 or 4 days behind New York and accelerating.

ETA: There is no sugarcoating this for Louisiana (particularly New Orleans) more deaths than any state except New York and Washington. More than New Jersey, with less than 1/3 the cases.

So in all seriousness, what is a reasonable action plan at this point? I truly have no idea other than lock NOLA down as far as who goes in and who goes out but can that even be done? Is it legal? Desperate times call for desperate measures??

And tigerskin in another thread just said the lawyer who is 45 from NOLA is off of the vent.

And where can I find, if it exists, a breakdown of deaths by parish?

Today is not looking good. If the evening bump happens we are gonna see something like 375 deaths today.

That's about what I expect. We've been tracking fairly closely along with Germany the last few days in terms of deaths per capita. Germany added 75 today, or 28% of the previous day's total. Applying that figure to our total from yesterday would put us at 363.

Impossible. No one comes off the vent.

It's not a laughing matter but

FYI I checked his wifes fb for myself -- he IS off! Looks like he'd been on it for about 2 weeks. I'm guessing they fed him somehow -- tube or tpn.

If they don’t get put in a hospital and leave, there is no way to track a recovery...

Which is why the numbers being reported are complete bullshite

Awfully early in the evening to pass yesterday's deaths count.

They are probably just using a fixed timeframe from when a case was tested positive.

Much better. He had a burger yesterday. Couldn’t eat broth two days ago. They’re starting to talk about transition to a normal room. And discharge plan. Which will take a while with needing two negative tests.
