I’m just jaded at this point. As I was looking over Missouri’s flu data last night, I realized we had about the expected number of deaths from the flu while our schools were closed and our state was shut down. We average about 90-100/wk during flu season, and we averaged that during the SAH order.
Lots of useful data will be there to be had on the other side of this grand social experiment.

I know there was some literature out there somewhere that said contact precautions don’t actually do anything beyond what washing your hands would do so I’m not surprised

The map is highly misleading. It is the style of a heat map, but it does not use a heat map scale. Also, the vast majority of the map can never be anything but green. One-third of the entire population is concentrated in ~70 counties out of 3,000. And the land area of those counties covers only 3.1% of the country. So if every single person dies, still only 3% of the map will be red.
It's just not useful information.

The information hinted at in the legend would have been better conveyed with a per capita heat map, and perhaps using the 3rd dimension to indicate population.
As is, the map is useless. It doesn't relate any meaningful information.

Sure it does. The vast majority of deaths have taken place in a very concentrated area and in a very concentrated population. Not sure what you think is fake about that.
66% of the deaths occur in counties that make up 15% of the population and much, much less of the geographical landmass of the country. The second is less interesting than the first.

Map looks legit to me, but I’m not a fan of the yellow being discontinuous like the red and green.

Definitely going better. It's worth being cautious, though. There have been countries to come off lockdown only to go back on. My concern is that we may suffer through a long and difficult suppression to be followed by a weak mitigation that minimizes public confidence in safety and we get more deaths and less economic recovery than we could otherwise.

Yeah. I could understand that. It gives the appearance of cherry picking. They would have been better off keeping the yellow contiguous.
