Big jump up in deaths for NY in the morning update.
They were at 699 yesterday, correct?

599 yesterday according to WoM

Whoops. Then yeah, that's a pretty big jump, but probably some lag from the weekend.
Considering New York/New Jersey is accounting for about half of the deaths so far, the 731 isn't completely detrimental to this day, IMO. As long as they don't add much more to their count, of course.

Georgia with a big update in deaths, 10 yesterday, 100 today (So far).
This really is a huge increase for the state of GA compared to previous days' numbers. I wonder if it is correct?

So do y'all see the release of info re: % of infection/death by race as informational or political? Just curious -- I've seen people screaming for both sides.

Well to me numbers are numbers, in my mind they carry no racist meaning if they are presented in a neutral, non biased manner.
I certainly understand the current narratives in the MSN and know that they want to use those numbers in a biased manner.

I'm taking it as numbers are numbers myself. I mean we give age ranges ... and if it makes AA people take their health more seriously (ie uncontrolled HTN, obesity, heart disease) then it's not bad. And white people shouldn't assume those factors just don't apply to them.
For me it is what it is. I'm very open to hearing thoughts of others.

Nursing Homes and Covid
Given the data in here which is leaking out, I wonder if we’re going to discover that a not unsubstantial percentage of the infections are in senior living and skilled nursing facilities.
An example:
Saint Charles County, MO has 188 total confirmed cases of the virus. Over 30 (16%) of those are from one nursing facility.
St. Louis City has 357 cases. Over 5% of those are in one nursing home.
There’s an additional 5 nursing facilities in the St. Louis area that have reported at least one case. I’d guess that means an average of 10 cases per facility (on the low side).

About a week ago Louisiana had 61 identified nursing home clusters .. and the facilities were named on the LDH website. NOW they only reports those number on Monday and Wednesday but I can't find yesterdays numbers.
Not sure why they changed but I sure can't find the info now. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough. My nursing home as of yesterday had no cases. Hadn't checked in today.

Looks like you may have corrected what I was seeing. It basically was going from 7 days to 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 in that column earlier this morning, and that was also being reflected in the graph. Now, it shows blank spaces.
*also, can you explain to me how you're getting the days to double number? For example: your daily count numbers seems to count up until about 10:00PM at night and that's the final number for the day. So, looking at the final numbers for Sunday, 3/29, the number of cases ended at 143,491. On Saturday morning, 4/4, it hit the double mark, exceeding 287k.
In consecutive 24 hour time periods, starting at 10:00PM on the 29th (when the final numbers were in place), that's 5.25 - 5.5 days, but the days your formula provides is showing 6.29 days. Why is that or what am I missing?
There's more examples, but the answer to this should explain the others.

Sometimes Google Sheets doesn't update the linked sheets properly. I bet that's what you saw since I didn't change anything!

Up to 1,356 with about 8 hours left of reporting for the day...
ETA: I think this jump was due to New Jersey's update for the day.

The answer to this is in my previous response to you detailing how I calculate the number.
Let me know if that isn't clear enough, I'm happy to discuss.
One thing my calculations don't take into account is the time of the day the final numbers land. Due to that I can only go off of days, not hours.
My daily numbers are purely based on Worldometer's numbers for the day. They normally reset the day at 8pm CST (Midnight GMT). This is what is probably preventing the granularity that your talking about.

I'm hopeful that when all of this is said and done health outcomes will greatly improve around the country for an extended period of time. We're going to lose fair number of people who were already on short time, and maybe people will actually taking care of themselves. Wash your hands, eat better and go for a jog every now and then. And don't trust China

Damn, just checked the current numbers and new cases is normalish for this time of the day, people are dieing by the wagon loads.
I guess we have expected this as the new cases were escalating last week. This too shall pass.

When it appears to be worst, it’s getting better. When it looks like it’s getting better, the first wave will almost be over.

Georgia numbers include what happened in rural Dougherty County. They had a couple of funerals there 4-5 weeks ago (non cv deaths). The funeral home was packed and lots of hugging. Now that County leads the state in deaths.

So, we won't likely know what to expect in the second wave until it gets here, if it gets here, right? How do we even know 100% that there will be a second wave?
How did SARS and MERS get shut down?

Yeah real curious on Georgia... bad data or one hell of a jump.
I know testing can jack the cases, but I am getting cautiously optimistic on the infected numbers in the US... Deaths are laggards so the spike is not a surprise.
Looking more and more like we were avoid the avoidable deaths due to lack of beds and vents... Cuomo and his 30,000 vent request seem a distant memory
