I think excess deaths tell the story of 2020 well. You can see Germany handling the virus while Spain and Italy fail. Throw in historic flu deaths from the last decade and you get a real understanding of the toll Covid has taken.

Can you really claim germany has handled it "well" when their first lockdown failed to eradicate the virus and was basically pointless? All those jobs and income lost, in vain.

Yeah, they’re about to enter a draconian lockdown for a month starting next week. I can’t see what you see.

Can this shite be unstickied?
Who really gives a shite at this point? No offense to the OP as early on nobody knew what to think about this; but shite is old, dumb, and played out.

Get fricked.
Regardless of how played out it is, many of us come here every day to see top line numbers and overall trends.
How inconvenient is it for you anyway? You put in legitimate effort to come here and ask for this to be unstickied.

Always the mission.
As for the rest....live in fear.
You are very much correct that it is not much trouble at all to ignore it. However, it is a constant reminder that people are feeding into this.
That pisses me off for the people.
That being said, I will concede that I probably should not have posted what I did. I felt I owed you this response. I will not derail this any further.

You can always just not click the thread. It’s high quality work by the OP and even more relevant as the 7-day average has gone above 80k. This board generates 100 trash threads a day, this isn’t one of them.

Another lovely customer from north of the Mason/Dixon Line. Walk away, not worth one's time/energy.

Eh, I’m a southerner. I also spent two months there. I thought you’d agree with me if anything

I grew up in and around Orleans parish and given its recent maladies the Falls is Heavenly - but then most other places would be . Is all good.

We're at the point where deaths should start to rapidly increase. I'm starting to suspect that it has mutated to a more contagious, less deadly strand and we just haven't objectively identified it yet.
Eventually this will just be a other strain of the flu.

Or the rise in cases is due to a combination of factors to include:
- a corresponding large increase in testing
- tests that have an unacknowleged high false positive rate
- tests that don’t differentiate between Covid and the flu
And a flat line in deaths in spite of:
- Dubious categorizations of deaths as Covid
- Ardent retroactive data harvesting aimed at increasing recent deaths numbers

Virus Hunters makes a strong case that COVID-19 is just the wake-up call
Microbial threats have the ability to haunt humanity. Resources needed to meet emerging health threats aren't close to being adequate. Our government spends trillions on imaginary threats while ignoring the real dangers. Biological science isn't the enemy.
