quote:
“We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.” —C.S. Lewis

The product of a matriarchal society. Men are most often raised by women, taught and reared by women.

Lewis like Orwell was beyond genius

Love Lewis but never knew Les was quoting him when he said Gunner Keil had no chest.
Seriously, great quote and shows that all things are cyclical. Hard times make strong men, strong men make good times, good times make weak men, weak men make hard times.

Abolition of Man.
Easily qualifies as the best prophetic work of the 1900s.

You are correct, along with Schaeffer’s assessments.

Absolutely. The book is great and everyone should read it.

quote:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
I’ve thought this one by Lewis is pretty solid for the times we’re in.

Feminism really fricked up soft men. No wonder depression and anxiety are rife.

That's my favorite one of his.
On a side note- he got a lot of pussy.

Then he probably started this with “Of all tyrannies, pussy is undefeated…”
Before he changed it to the above quote
(I had to read this twice before submit to make sure I didn’t write “trannies.”)

What feminism sought to do, when you get right down to it feminism was brought to us by a bunch of angry women whose major grievance and beef was with human nature and God. And they sought to reverse, undo, change, whatever, basic human nature, things that we're born with.

It's like that Adams quote (paraphrasing) that I must study war and politics so my children can study commerce and agriculture, so their children can study art and poetry. He didn't realize that their children would have to study war and politics again.

They were both indeed wise men, but they also had the advantage of seeing the pot from the outside.

Les was so wise, but we just couldn’t see it.

I highly underrated and important point

I appreciate and understand your point, but I think Lewis would disagree. Our culture is breaking down, and what Lewis saw then, has simply gotten much worse. It’s not a cycle, but a long linear slide.

Les Miles tried to warn us.
