I don't disagree with Ted Cruz, but the FCC did not get Jimmy Kimmel fired. First, as CNBC correctly pointed out, Jimmy Kimmel hasn't been fired. Second, the ABC affiliates got the show pulled. No one else. The FCC had not taken ANY ACTION AT ALL before the show was taken off the air. None.

Except the government didn't do this. The market dictated it.

So it's just a big coincidence that ABC decided to suspend Kimmel on Thursday for comments he made on a show Monday night, and the suspension only came after the FCC said this on Wednesday?

Frankly, when you see stuff like this — I mean, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.

The only part the FCC played in it was telling ABC/Disney they need to cull their nuts.

It’s not the FCC’s place to tell comedians what they can make jokes about.

He’s not wrong. And I say that as one who has had a perpetual erection since Kimmel’s firing.

He's not wrong. I don't think he meant it about Kimmel so much but veiled threats to pull licenses if network personalities offend the administration.
Trump needs to grow some thicker skin and just keep doing the work he's doing. No more complains about 97% of news coverage is unfavorable.

It's time the lying arse media is held accountable. What Kimmel said was a flat out dangerous lie. We all know that liberals will take any lie and claim it as fact even when faced with overwhelming evidence. They can't be reasoned with when facts are in front of them. They probably still believe in Santa.

100%! And I think everyone of us who agrees with Cruz also agrees with this.

The type of conservatives he’s referring to aren’t really a thing anymore. He’s living in a time from 20 years ago

Cruz must have wore himself out painting over graffiti. Ted Cruz is okay with a government licensed news media pushing their own agenda that is completely counter to conservative values. Does Teddy feel government should subsidize this particular brand of media?

I guess government could run ads, like big pharma does, to make sure the media messaging stays the same as it's ever been.

It wasn't a JOKE. It was a lie and a political statement. Everybody knows Kimmel is ate up with TDS and he took the chance to besmirch the legacy of Charlie Kirk just to get a dig at MAGA.

OF course he isn't wrong

But IMO this is Disney/ABC taking advantage of playing the victim card while also cutting a losing program.

He is wrong. The government didn't cancel that little propaganda puppet.

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom.from consequences. Doesn't anybody remember what happened to Riseanne Barr or Alex Jones?

So did you feel the same when they were trying to take action to remove “disinformation” concerning Covid and the 2020 election? Were you down with them having that power? Don’t give them power they will use against you one day.

I am, too.

Evelyn Beatrice Hall and all that.

How is government “subsidizing” this? Are we getting a bill from the atmosphere for transmission waves and paying for it with taxpayer money?

More and more, issues are less a function of core values and more of “Can I tag my opposition with it?”

No, it is not a coincidence but a perfectly timed suspension that would prevent ABC from having to explain why he was suspended. There is a merger going on between two affiliates and Kimmel's numbers are way down.

"Oh, the FCC made us do it" feeds their anti-MAGA base to keep them coming back for more!!
