Congratulations to these wonderful young men and women! America has so much to be proud of! What a great day for them and their families after so much hard work!

I am so relieved to see that they practiced social distancing properly. If the Army accepts that COVID is the existential threat of this election year (before the riots and soon to be again after the riots), then how can any American fight a second lockdown?

Sadly, you are probably right. With the commie shirt under their jacket.

Cool tradition. The lids go high in the air. And everyone takes one home. Only rule. You can't take your own hat home.

At least that was the tradition back in the day. My cousin sent me the one he got. i was about 10 years old. Was my prized possession.

I wonder if they still do it that way.

West Point isn't what it was in the past, sadly.

That's a cadets hat. They never officially have an occasion to wear it again. They are army officers now.

You don’t think their families would want photos with it? Besides, I think I’d keep my own and not take home someone else’s lice or germs.

Just googled the tradition. Still the same basic idea of throw the hat as high as you can, then forget about it.

Only new twist is that they now let children in attendance rush onto the field and pick up a hat. And there is still the tradition of cadet grads picking up a random hat and sending it to a family member.

Not really, the vast majority of West Point grads I know are very liberal.

Im a grad, you write a kid a message inside it and chuck it high as you can and forget about it. The kid gets the hat and a nice message. It’s cool.
