Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) confirmed Tuesday that he had paid out a settlement after BuzzFeed News reported that his office paid a woman more than $27,000 as part of a confidentiality agreement related to sexual-harassment complaints. The confirmation retracts an earlier statement he made to the AP denying such a settlement and claiming he was surprised by the accusations. “I expressly and vehemently denied the allegations made against me, and continue to do so,” he said. “My office resolved the allegations– with an express denial of liability– in order to save all involved from the rigors of protracted litigation. That should not be lost in the narrative. The resolution was not for millions of dollars, but rather for an amount that equated to a reasonable severance payment.” The long-time congressman also stated that he would cooperate with a House investigation.

IF he paid ONE... there is another 20 that got run over, intimidated, etc...
Takes a very strong woman to bow up against someone like this. Most don't even try.

So. Just to recap.
NOW, he remembers clearly that this is a bullshite allegation but less than 48 hours ago, he "remembered" it never happening.

Legalese for “I’d have lost my arse in court so I paid her off to cover it up.”

If he'd read something other than fricking playboy articles once in awhile and mix in some regular news he'd know these things.

this is a total shite-show.
they're so busy dog-piling on moore that they don't realize they're about to be swept away in a tsunami of their own creation.
they can have moore if 50 democratic congressmen have to resign as well

Paid for not by the slushfund but from taxpayer funds in Conyer's office budget.
quote:
In this case, one of Conyers’ former employees was offered a settlement, in exchange for her silence, that would be paid out of Conyers’ taxpayer-funded office budget. His office would “rehire” the woman as a “temporary employee” despite her being directed not to come into the office or do any actual work, according to the document. The complainant would receive a total payment of $27,111.75 over the three months, after which point she would be removed from the payroll, according to the document.

Which.......by the way.......instantly tells you that whatever number we got for the slush fund.......it was an under-estimate of the total tax-dollars.

quote:correct, and if they ever released any data, then Conyer's wouldn't be in the mix, thereby lowering the "number" of rapey mcrapertons in DC.

Considering the districts a number of these Congress critters will be from, I’d rather have Moore in the Senate.
Frankly, clearing out the gerrymandered wonders like Conyers from the House would be a net positive for the Dems by clearing out high seniority members very unlikely to lose anytime soon.
Whoever replaces them won’t be a Republican or a Blue Dog by any means but any clowns will be at the bottom of the totem pole rather than being ranking members of important committees.

Two staffers alleged in their signed affidavits that Conyers used congressional resources to fly in women they believed he was having affairs with. Another said she was tasked with driving women to and from Conyers’ apartment and hotel rooms.

I don't care about political fallout. I want criminals and ne'erdowells ran out of DC. Clean that place up.
