Sánchez dropped a decree that says you can’t raise the rent by more than 2% until 2027. That you also can’t evict them until 2030 if they’ve got nowhere to go. And that the contracts you already had signed get extended two more years, whether you like it or not
The second decree says the tenant can renew forever. If you want your place back, you’ve gotta explain what for, and if you can’t explain it, you pay them compensation to get them to leave (I doubt this one’ll pass Congress)
But hey, no worries, the title’s still in your name. The property tax too

The Spanish are going to have to shoot their way out, and they lack the guns and the will. The Spanish government looked at 20%+ youth unemployment and still mass imported Muslims to replace them.

Though I don’t agree with this, I think some context would be useful. There was an 87 year old who was evicted from her home/apartment that she lived in for 40+ years because a private equity group bought the apartments and jacked the rent up. There was a huge public outcry about it and it has shed light on housing affordability for both young and old people in Spain.
I don’t have a dog in the hunt, but figured some context would be useful.
At the end of the day, governments call on the will of the people - even if the people are mistaken - and every now and then heads roll when the people get fed up enough.

It’s all supply and demand but with the government causing the scarcity. Bring in uneducated 3rd world leeches now taking up rentals which causes rents to increase for those willing to pay. Then now place rent controls which will take away any incentive to build more dwellings.
