The Washington Commanders fined defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio $100,000 after his comments this week comparing the 2020 protests in the wake of the death of George Floyd to the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

How dumb can they be. The Antifa/BLM riots were in deed a violent terrorist insurrection complete with arson, murder, assaults, looting and attacks on businesses, police stations and federal buildings.

I want to make it clear that our organization will not tolerate any equivalency between those who demanded justice in the wake of George Floyd's murder and the actions of those on January 6 who sought to topple our government.

I wonder if Rivera was alright with Dems comparing the Georgia voting laws with Jim Crow?!

Why say something if you're just going to turn around and apologize for it??? He would have been better off just keeping his mouth shut than to apologize.

I don't think people understand how liberal Washington DC and the adjacent communities in NoVa and MD really are. We are talking 90% Democrat voters and they are rabid about political issues. I agree 100% with everything Del Rio said but he's in the wrong damn zip code to be making comments like that. TBH, Rivera is probably covering his arse with this laughable statement and the "fine" will probably be taken out of an inflated bonus. Probably the smart move given the circumstances.

Four years myself. Every time I think of going back, they do something like this....this shite would make Stalin proud. He'll prolly have to attend sensitivity training and unconscious bias seminars at some Gulag rehabilitation center

frickin hypocrite Rivera -

quote:

Rivera appeared on the McNeil and Parkins Show on 670 The Score Monday, and was asked whether it was the time to change the team’s controversial name that some find offensive to the Native Americans.

In football terms, his answer was akin to a punt, saying it should be “a discussion for another time.”

“It’s all about the moment and the timing,” he said. “But I’m just somebody that’s from a different era when football wasn’t such a big part of the political scene. That’s one of the tough things, too, is I’ve always wanted to keep that separate.

***---->“People have wanted me to get in politics while I’m coaching and I keep telling them, ‘It’s not for me to get up there and influence people.’<----***

spineless Rivera

Del Rio is a pussy for apologizing. Too bad they didn’t fire him as well. He’s like Drew Brees but not as popular but equally as cuckolded.
