Qualified immunity. That thing that seems to make some sense that it should exist right until you watch how the motherfrickers apply it. The courts have lost their goddamn Minds on this subject. Basically the only way you can lose your qualified immunity is to somehow do the exact same frick up some other cop did that got addressed in court and ruled on. Qualified immunity effectively makes it's so the cops can be the dumbest person in every legal interaction by Design. And God forbid we expect them to apply Humanity to a situation!

Exactly. Pretty sure I’ve seen the ‘lie about what you have’ for a confession move on every real crime and every fictional crime TV show for my entire life.
Trying to use this as evidence for targeting flock shows how fricking dumb, and manipulated, you are by the recent campaign against a technology every cop car has been riding around with for decades.

This was one of the first examples of police abuse of this system that hit the national media. It is still, and always will be, a good example of the problem.

So your stance is they used a specific tool to try to solve a crime and you’ve just recently been told this specific tool is really really bad? Are you under the impression police only solve crimes in one way and do not fish for information during the course of an investigation?
What if a witness said they saw ‘someone they maybe think was the thief’ drive away in ‘insert her car’ instead and they used vehicle registration to locate the people closest to the crime and knocked on their door?
The result is the same, you’re just being told for -some reason- that now this is a bad thing if they used this one specific tool. Why? Why are you being told this now? Your license plate has been scanned by police cars with mobile license plate readers for a long time
Now pretend it wasn’t stealing, and it was your child abducted. Use flock and knock on a door or no?
