So the boats aren't taking fentanyl to the US?
The Fentanyl comes from China directly and through Mexico. The boats from South America, if they are drug runners, are carrying cocaine.

And then usage of alternate drugs increases.
Again, this is why we have fentanyl.
Opioid supply drastically drops, opioid usage drops....but the attendant problems get worse because fentanyl usage explodes
Right. Although IIRC fentanyl production is down— the Mexicans mostly closed up shop when the border closed , as part of the China trade deal they agreed to actually stop making the precursors, & Canada is beefing up enforcement too. AFAIK quack doctors quit passing out opioid Rxs like they are candy.
I’d agree with you that drugs cannot be entirely rooted out of our society. Still, they can be drastically mitigated.

they are well within their rights to do so
Not really
That's why they have to try to mislabel this as terrorism to use war on terror era laws. The same laws that I thought we all were against abusing a year ago

That’s stopping as part of the trade deal with China and beefed up land border security with Mexico

So it was drugs on the boats or fish?
Posted on 12/2/25 at 7:42 am to stout
Big Pharma will undoubtedly "find" a solution.....and we will pay for it, because we demand it......or we'll demand that sin taxes on alcohol goes down...or both.

im against using them against american citizens.
but yea they are within their rights. and it would fall under terrorism
stop being a fricking douche
and im saying this as someone who a lot of time agrees with you and someone that thinks drugs should be a non criminal offense as its just capitalism. but under the law, they have the right to do what they are doing

Then the question is what replaces fentanyl and then the follow up question is if it's worse.
Just like how fentanyl replaced regular opioids and was 100% worse.
The WOD has proven over the past 50 years this is a game of whack-a-mole from the supply side.
Posted on 12/2/25 at 7:49 am to SDVTiger
We don't know. No one has provided evidence that there were drugs.....probably was, but it would be more effective to have hard evidence as proof

Only under the most extreme interpretation of the WOT statutes, and the WOT statutes alone are terrible.

I've been against the WOD and WOT for 20 years on here without change.
Others have rotated between being for/against the 2 over that 20 years. In Trump admin 1, we were against the WOT and largely against the WOD. In Trump 2 there has been a 180.
This policy is combining the two into a Frankenstein's monster of government expansion.

I've never argued drugs weren't on the boat. You must be confusing me with someone else.
Posted on 12/2/25 at 7:51 am to stout
I don't think the drug cartels are paying the boat captains more money. I think the boat captains are operating based on the threat that their families will be executed if they don't drive the boats.

So its just regualr joe ot fisherman rocking 500k plus speeds boats
That make sense and of course you lefties are confused abd defending drug dealers

I did not realize the maritime drug smuggling industry had grown so specialized that smugglers now smuggle only type of drug.
Did they negotiate this in their union contract?
Can you link for me the study(ies) in which you found this information?

Do you actually think you know everything behind this effort? WHy would YOU need to know?

In before SlowFlowPro says the drug epidemic is not a supply issue but a demand issue.
It’s both, of course. You will never fix it by attacking supply. Only a ferocious attack on demand will fix it. That has been proved time and again.

It's the war on terra/war on drugs joint re-mix. Hat tip to Pepe for that.

From the producer countries?
Think about what you said. Do you think Colombia was shipping a bunch of meth in the 70s or exclusively cocaine? Do you think Afghanistan was moving a bunch of cocaine or poppy derivatives?

Incorrect framing
Seeing it's 99% of Democrats and Rand Paul so vehemently opposed, I would say it spot on framing.
