Clinical trials: Don’t be part of clinical trial unless you are willing to die for science

In a clinical trial at least 50 percent of people are on a placebo, and sometimes even more. This explains why so many deaths occur during tests for drugs that prove effective. Probably explains what’s going on with deaths in New York. If I get this virus this is the treatment I want. And I want it early!

What part of what I said do you disagree with? Do you have any experience with clinical trials? It’s fine to be in a trial as long as people understand the risk that they may not receive the treatment.

The "control" group can be a group that hasn't received the drug in question by their own request vs. a group that is getting the drug by their own request.

The control doesn't necessarily get a placebo. You can still crunch the numbers of effectiveness from a group who doesn't receive hydroxychloroquine/Zpac but instead chooses another drug, vs a group that does receive the drug duo.

As long as the numbers are compared straight across by people on the same drug(s), the results will still be valid. Doesn't mean people will go completely without drugs, but that it's a broader reaching comparison of the affects of many kinds of drugs being used to try and treat this.

You do understand how clinical trials work don’t you. Right now you are a loved ones best chance of survival is hydroxychloroquine, azithromycine, and zinc. 100 percent so far in New York.

How much money do you get to be in a clinical trial? On Extreme Cheapskates TV show I found out you can get $50K for your healthy testicles. They're trying to invent artificial replacements.

This doesn't make much sense. If you stay out of the trial, then your chance of being cured is zero, the same as with a placebo. The placebo isn't going to increase your risk of death.

Your claim would only make sense if the drug being tested led to the deaths of the patients, not the placebo.

You are a complete idiot.

When you die of your stupidity, please donate your body to science.

Yes. There is a lot of oversight from Ethics Committees and Clinical Review Boards in methodology of each study and each participating institution. Please do some research and get your emotions in check. How can you make rational decisions when you are so spun up? Suggest also you avoid operating heavy machinery until your heart rate and BP go down.

Healthy people volunteering for a phase 1 trial receive compensation for their troubles. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

Patients with the disease under study do NOT receive payment to take part. That would be considered coercive and not allowed by IRBs / Ethics Committee. They may be reimbursed for travel time for a return hospital visit for example, but no straight up payment.

Not true. I've been on a cancer clinical trial since last summer. Phase one and every patient gets the medication because they are studying safety and tolerance.

Well, to hell with that. Lincoln freed us slaves a long time ago.

The control group on clinical trials does not get just a placebo. They get standard treatment for the disease/condition. They may get placebo in addition. But no clinical trial deprived anyone of the current standard of care.
