Clay Travis: "There isn't anything worth protesting in America today."

Not a big fan of his sports takes but Clay has been on the money when it comes to politics, SJWs, etc. He's probably like most of us, politically conservatives/moderates who don't really care about fighting over social issues but are growing extremely tired of the intolerance & hypocrisy of The Left.

Is that a healthy environment for our democracy? When millions of people, including some of the most talented people in our industry, live in fear of saying what they actually think about political issues for fear of losing their jobs? The left wing doesn't understand it, but they are the reason Donald Trump got elected. It wasn't racist Trump supporters -- election data shows that in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan, the three Big Ten states that Donald Trump flipped this year to win the election, Trump actually flipped Obama voters to his side -- it was middle of the road people, voters who supported Obama but switched to Trump, fed up with the left wing's intolerance of ideas or thoughts or Tweets or Facebook posts that aren't also left wing. That's what won the election for Trump.
quote:
The women's march was a broken gathering led by a bedraggled cast of leftist losers in pink hats who are desperately searching for a reason for social justice warriors to still exist even when there is none. Stop with your Roe v. Wade arguments. First, Roe v. Wade isn't being overturned. And if it were overturned, individual states would still be able to allow abortions. Abortion, meanwhile, continues to decline each year -- 2016 saw the fewest abortions of any year since 1973 -- because birth control is becoming more effective and widely available. (For the record, I'm pro choice. But the histrionics over abortion in this country are hopelessly outdated.) Second, if Roe v. Wade were ever overturned do you know who would really be to blame? Probably Ruth Bader Ginsburg since the 83 year old multiple cancer surviver and oldest Supreme Court justice eschewed fervent pleas to step down and allow her seat to be replaced by another liberal jurist during Barack Obama's two terms. Given her age and less than stellar health she's now is in danger of being replaced by a conservative jurist during Trump's term. So if you're a left winger and you want to march against someone for endangering reproductive rights, you should march against Ruth Bader Ginsburg, not Donald Trump.
quote:
These marches and social justice fights are getting increasingly pathetic. The left wing has moved so far left that its biggest battles in this country are over bathroom bills for transgender people. That's despite the fact that there has been no issue with people using whichever bathroom they want to use for multiple generations all over this country. The left has what I like to call, protest envy. They're so envious of the times when legitimate wrongs existed in this country that they're desperately thirsty for controversy. To wit, we've got millions of people who spent their Saturday marching not to combat any actual rights issues, but just to let you know that if there are rights issues that arise in the future they're going to be there to ensure that their rights remain there. If you really want to fight for women's rights, the United States shouldn't be your battlefield. Women are free and equal here. Travel overseas and start fighting in countries where women really don't have rights. But, you know, that's dangerous. Bad things might happen to you there. If you're a protester and you aren't risking your life or your liberty, guess what, you aren't really a protester. You're just someone who wants a good selfie background for social media.

I think the Michael Brown situation set him off. He's been on a roll since

democracy is a globalized system. There is nothing globalized about Donald Trump.

They are all envious of the 60s.

I think Clay Travis has established himself as the reasonable voice of the young white males.
I agree a lot with his message.

Wow.
He's spot on about the Notorious RBG. I hadn't thought about it like that.

There is a Fukayama quote in The End of History that was very appropriate.
quote:
“If men cannot struggle on behalf of a just cause because the just cause was victorious in an earlier generation,” he said, “then they will struggle against the just cause.”

Clay's iconic description of Alabama football fans is worth a read

There is zero doubt about that and it's an insult to what real civil rights advocates had to endure in the 60's and it's an insult to those who actually suffered real injustice. Had a liberal friend on Facebook post about the march this weekend was the equivalent to 1963 and how she will not stand by as people try to take her civil rights away. Meanwhile, her Instagram is literally nothing but pictures of her on beaches all over the world because her trust fund allows her to spend 300 days a year traveling the around the world instead of working.
If she wants to trade that for my white male privilege of having to go to work everyday in order to feed my family and pay the bills, then by all means I'm game.

"Protest envy"
Perfect description. People are trying (right and left) to find a reason to be. They're imagining issues which aren't even there so that they have a reason to protest. You cannot predict what the protests will be about in two years. You can predict they will be about nothing of consequence.

I disagree with him saying that there are no legitimate wrongs worth protesting, but he is absolutely right that no legitimate wrongs were being protested against last Saturday.
As usual, there are tons of things that are wrong with this country, but we ignore them and instead protest over the most assinine of made-up issues to look like we're doing something, so as to avoid fixing the problems which are much more difficult to fix.

Exactly.
During the inauguration, they showed one protestor kneeling in front of a line of riot police with his hands up. His friend was behind him trying to take a picture. As soon as the guy took the picture, they both walked away. They just wanted to capture a picture of being "oppressed" by the man even though the police probably didn't even notice them. Sums up a vast majority of these protestors. They just want to be able tell everyone how morally superior they are.

Hey, can you link me whatever random political buzzword generator you used to come up with this incoherent statement? I want to give it a spin.

Clay has always been anti-PC Bros, been more vocal lately with the Peyton Manning mooning scandal resurfacing last year. He ripped Shaun King apart on his podcast.
