Because a Waymo vehicle killed a cat....
Unfortunately not satire
Don't get me started on the whole algorithms and the use of the term "unaliving"

With outrage building over the death of “KitKat,” a feline struck by a Waymo in San Francisco’s Mission District, a city supervisor has called for legislation allowing counties to ban autonomous vehicles.
The resolution that Supervisor Jackie Fielder plans to introduce Tuesday would urge state leaders to change how this ride-hail technology is regulated, by enabling local governments to put the matter to voters.
“Here in the Mission, we will never forget our sweet KitKat, (and) we will always put community before tech oligarchs,” Fielder said in an Instagram reel, in which she blasted Waymo not only for killing an animal, but for causing congestion, collecting users’ data and undermining public transit.

Late at night on Oct. 27, a beloved bodega cat scurried under a Waymo that was pulling away from the Roxie Theater on 16th Street. The car ran over “Kit Kat,” shocking bystanders. One witness filed a 311 complaint saying the autonomous vehicle “did not even try to stop and hit the cat at fast speed.”
“The poor thing crawled ten feet back to the sidewalk and suffered a horrible, horrible, long unaliving,” Fielder said in her Instagram reel.

It's SF. That's pretty much all you got besides homeless people.

I hope he does. I want to see Cali keep killing businesses.
The only downside is that those businesses flee to Texas, and their employees keep voting blue, so it's a mixed bag.

Chances are that the supervisor is getting money from the cab drivers to reduce competition.

I just think it's silly that they draw the line on a cat being hit

Yup, not the sh*t in the street or public urination or drug use

OMG. Anything but that!

They support that with buses people can use to have someone shoot them up with clean needles and Narcan vending machines

People that migrate from California to Texas typically vote more red than blue
And no matter how many times this is pointed out people worry about this stupid shite

Supervisor Jackie Fielder is a Mission renter, public bank organizer, former city commissioner and educator, and climate and environmental justice advocate. Jackie got her start in the #NoDAPL movement by organizing for divestment from the Wall Street banks financing the Dakota Access Pipeline. In 2017, she co-founded the San Francisco Defund DAPL Coalition and the San Francisco Public Bank Coalition to start the nation's first city-owned bank to support small businesses, affordable housing, and renewable energy. From 2018 to 2020, she taught “Race, Women, and Class” at San Francisco State University in the College of Ethnic Studies.
Kinda hot, really crazy. Would insert my pipeline but sneak out before breakfast.

He? The context of this should make you immediately think this is a woman.

Pray tell how a human driver would have altered the outcome??
Not in really in support for autonomous vehicles, they are a danger if for nothing more than the lack of responsibility their operation represent.

I think it will be a long time until we see mass adoption. I've taken a few Waymo rides and thought it was pretty awesome. Did not fear for my safety at all.

Humans do this too. Happened to my dog.
This is about protecting jobs for taxi and Uber drivers.

I can see that angle. But they aren't really treated like employees.

Probably. The article says she has support from the Teamsters.
California's state bird is the NIMBY.

For as long as there have been motorized vehicles, there has been roadkill. Trying to pawn the cat's death off as something unique due to the autonomous vehicle is the height of her pedigree-proven idiocy.

Nope. They do not.
