Thats the point. IF IT REALLY DIDNT MATTER then why did Disney change the color, because it did matter to them.

How about "Roots the prequel" where we are educated about the actual "roots" of slavery?
We, as Americans have been conditioned to believe slavery is an almost uniquely White American thing.

Take a minute to ponder this stupidity: the population at large thinks blacks make up 41% of the population. They're off by a factor of 200%. Make it about 300% when you just take the estimates of blacks themselves. Can you imagine being SO STUPID that you think it's (being generous) more than 25%? Now consider that blacks on average think that they're in the majority in this country. This is unbelievably stupid, and explains a lot of the whining, but the bigger question is how they could come to such a conclusion.

Pool made a decent point... if Disney really wanted to do away with the appearance of the old lil mermaid... they shouldn't have half assed it. Just use that actress as she is, not dyeing her hair red in an attempt to fit the appearance of the old lil mermaid.

The Chinese are not “woke”, and they are proud of their country and race. Those who think they changed it to white are mistaken. They changed it to a light skinned Chinese. Anyone who watches Asian movies or television programs would know this. China has seen what multiculturalism does to a nation, and they don’t want any of it.

To me the issue is that it's a very recognizable character that has been around for decades. You see a white mermaid with red hair, it's obviously Ariel. You have all of the Ariel merchandise etc, so everyone recognizes the character.
You now replace her with a black girl but say it's the same character but looks nothing like her. Are they now going to replace all of the merchandise with the white Ariel with black Ariel merchandise?
Would it not have made more sense to just introduce a new character that was a black mermaid?
