PM Boris Johnson has declared Britain must be rid of all Huawei equipment by 2027.

Globalists have infected the British Conservative Party just as they have the American Republican Party. Businesses and Commerce Chamber types pitched a fit as did a lot of Conservative Party globalists. Certain connected and influential people stood to get a lot of grease in their pockets. The Chinese aren’t stupid. Huawei made a well connected British Lord their Chairman in Europe. They know a lot of politicians will sell out their own people’s and country’s interests for money.
The time frame was the way Boris got this through, under the guise that it “allows British companies to plan and adapt.”

Cost and complexity plus lead times are all factors I would bet. People are still going to want their 5g during the transition.
