You clearly are not even willing to admit to basic facts like this obvious one: "China uses slave labor."

Look at the facts I posted just above.

Why is that slave labor?

It would be slave labor if those people had to deal with the cost of living here, but they don't. Their cost of living is 74% less than ours.

No one believes unskilled labor with no degrees are entitled to making enough for a 5 bedroom house and 2 cars.

Auto workers make about $28 an hour on average, or just shy of $60k a year. Thats almost $20k higher than the median income, and these factories are going to be in low to medium cost of living places. People can raise a family on that

People here will not believe any other data than those from Twitter republicans and Trump. The Bible can say tariffs are bad and they will still justify it

They absolutely ridiculed Obama's tariffs when Trumps tariffs cost almost a million dollar a job created in his last term.

While Bunk is not that, those jobs are more productive (and get paid a market wage accordingly) than the crappy, low paid work that doesn't work in our economy

The frick they don't.

The uat fan who spams the board with all of his "alternative economics" theories posted a huge thread with that being the exact premise a week or so ago.

And there were plenty chiming in who believed it.

The average factory worker here (again, depending on who you ask) makes between $17-$24/hour.

I feel like I'm back in 2012 on here arguing with Rex about "Sweat shops" and "exploiting the poor" and "colonialism".

I used to own the Leftists on here making these stupid-emotional arguments and I guess I'll have to do it again with MAGA people arguing that leftism today.

These jobs suck compared to our glorious economy/lifestyle.

These jobs are good compared to the alternative options they have.

Also, this is a necessary step in the economic development of a country.

If you want to see how this works in the right way, Taiwan is typically the go to example. They started off with "slave labor" in the 50s and used that to build an incredibly modern economy in half a century.

This board is walking a fine where they want those jobs back, but at not TOO greedy of a union wage. It's basically "we want the $17 work back in Tennessee, but not at $27 in Michigan."

So what's your point?

That Louisiana restaurants pay slave wages?

These jobs aren't even worth min wage. That's why they're in developing countries.

I'm telling you, they will get to the union pablum, and it's coming fast.

There's a thread on the board right now with some ex-auto worker from Detroit who is crowing about the tariffs and manufacturing coming back.

That Detroit environment only existed due to unions. UAW.

Once the populists figure out that the trope is impossible without it, they'll embrace it. I'd bet my bank account on it.

I stand corrected, I guess I was looking at average. However I’d like to point out this counts gig workers and part timers which shouldn’t be relevant to manufacturing baw comparisons

I think gig and part timers is exactly who should be compared to. Who do you think is going to fill these factory jobs?

I think median household is about $60k, that's probably what you saw.
