Yeah something is strange. I just checked the news and they have a Feb. date set. And that Harris could preside over it...

I'd like to see someone with some constitutional law experience weigh in on this if possible. I question the validity of this claim (not you, CA, but the people at FOX). Derschowitz says the articles are bogus anyways.

I would not put it past these people to try and run a complete sham of an impeachment, bypassing the judiciary in the process. After all, they've already tried to impeach the guy on completely bogus charges before.

When Roberts didn't take the Texas case, he allowed the Dems to take control of POTUS & senate.

Senate will stack SCOTUS all but making his vote/presence with no standing.

Roberts saying no was in the news a few days ago. I didn't see it but Hannity probably said Roberts said this. Roberts apparently did tell Turtle or something because now it is being said Kamala could preside over the trial.

I don’t give two shits about Trump in this case. There is no downside to this for him. I don’t see him running in 2024 (it is highly unlikely). Additionally, he knows that his reputation is going to be shite on by the lunatics on the left, so why should he not go out like a boss?

This is about bringing the seedy side of Biden and Harris etc. into the spotlight and dragging them through their own impeachments. The MSM has hidden them behind a wall of praise. Impeachment’s (plural) would be a legitimate avenue to expose the truth to the masses.

How could she? The Constitution is quite clear on the matter:

Article I, Section 3, Clause 6:

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

Granted, he's not the President of the United States anymore - but he was the President of the United States when he was impeached. And James Madison is quite clear in The Federalist Papers that impeachments are meant for public officials only. Donald J. Trump is now a private citizen, thus the Senate has no jurisdiction in this matter.

Roberts is saying no specifically so Harris can try and preside over the trial. This isn't magnanimity, it's him absconding his duties to make this an even more partisan railroading.

Agreed. He will be too old in four years (yeah, I know how old Biden is) and not want deal with the hassle. Bring it on and turn it into an uncomfortable shitshow. Hell, have Lin Wood in and say Roberts kills babies.

But is it legitimate? Meaning, if the Chief Justice refuses can the VP fill in? She isn't even a fricking judge. Wouldn't they instead have to appoint another SCOTUS justice to the case?

Also, something I saw tossed about during the first impeachment was the idea that if the Chief Justice doesn't sit over the trial, he may actually have to step down as Chief Justice...
