Yup, those right wingers kept throwing the Molotov cocktails back out of the schools and the Muslims were confused whether they should throw even more or not

Why respond to my post, which is about protests in Greece being different, with an X post about France?

Such a bot

What part of France? I may be wrong, but I think it is mostly in the southern areas.

Toulouse.

Ive heard that the worst incidents have been in Paris and Marseille. My daughter is in Toulouse now, and she hasn’t encountered anything too bad so far.

Toulouse

I have honestly never been. I have honestly not spent much time in the land of my ancestors even though I spend much time in Europe.

France allows millions of immigrants into the country.

Influx of non tax paying outsiders puts a strain on social services, healthcare , including gov funded education system.

Resources get stretched thin, causing all manner of shortages and maintenance issues in said schools.

Students become upset with the situation to such an extent, they vandalize and burn their own schools? Which were already underfunded, but now will cost billions more JUST to restore what had already existed...

Bloody brilliant plan.

*Can't help but notice how this magically coincides with the rise of Le Pen's party. Almost like it was planned by the commies to undercut everything and put the country into chaos.

I have a French background too, and I’m excited about Toulouse. My daughter has been there for two months and loves it, so I’m excited about the trip. I’m fascinated by the Cathars, so I’m looking forward to traveling to some of those sites.

Aren’t you in Croatia? That’s a bucket list item for me.

And here I was thinking that France was one of the paragons of social programs.

I entered "why is france's public school system underfunded? I thought they were better at this." into google's search engine. Very interesting responses

Some snippets:

quote:

While France has historically prided itself on a centralized, egalitarian state model, its public school system is currently facing a severe resource crisis that has triggered massive, countrywide youth protests. The perception that France is universally "better at this" conflicts with a series of structural issues, policy decisions, and budgetary strain

quote:

1. Heavy Subsidies for Private Schools
A major driver of resource inequity is how France allocates its national education budget. The French government spends roughly $9.9 billion annually subsidizing approximately 7,500 private schools. This money fully funds private school teacher salaries and provides per-pupil local funding.

Because subsidized private schools can use selective criteria to admit students, they frequently "skim" higher-performing, wealthier students. This leaves the public school system to disproportionately serve lower-income and disadvantaged student populations while working with heavily depleted operational and facilities budgets.

quote:

5. Elite Disengagement from the State System
The crisis is compounded by a growing sense that French elites have abandoned the public system entirely. A prominent example occurred when the French Education Minister faced immense backlash for pulling her own children out of state schools to enroll them in an exclusive private institution. As affluent and politically connected families migrate to the publicly subsidized private sector, political urgency to fix and properly fund the public system has degraded.

But hey, they have their national health system.

Not currently, but we do have property there and go there often.

Hit me up if you go. I will give you tips on where to go and what eats to try.

Thanks for that. Shelly doesn't get anywhere near the appreciation he deserves.

This part is just pathetic but not unexpected:

Of the French public surveyed, 62% said students were justified in their protests.
